Default My Escort Cab Tennis edition

Howdy all, long time lurker here. Been a huge fan of old Fords for years and finally took the plunge into ownership.

Thought i'd start a thread for the old girl. She's been called Sheena by my gf as it sounded "like an 80s name" whatever that means!

Apologies for iphone pics, will take better ones soon.

It's a 1989 XR3i Tennis. Quite rare i believe and very well spec'd for the year too. Has a huge file of history and only 70 odd thousand miles. Was previously owned by a bloke on this forum who carried out a lot of work on the car.

Modification wise it has Koni ajustables, fully polybushed, magnex 4 branch and full system and some lovely RS 7 spokes.

Plans for the car are to tidy it up, it's so good that it could be an absolute minter with a bit of time and money which i plan on doing. Already started stripping and cleaning the engine bay and sent a few bits off for paint.

Left work an hour early today so i could get the interior out it and back into the garage before it was dark so it's sitting in the garage ready to strip a bit more to clean and try sort a water leak. The joys of a 1989 convertible

Any help on where to start looking regards the leak would be appreciated, i appreciate there are a milion possibilities but any common spots? Battry tray has been done and fuse box area perfect.

Will update with better pics as i go, cheers for looking folks.

Door seals could be a shout as it was soaking at bottom of the doors. You mean the rubber seal attached to sill? It looked all good but was wet.

Seats are dry, only carpet wet. Running down doors would fit in with what i've found so far. What seal is it that goes?

Cheers, this one used to be on diamond cuts. Had S2 RST wheels on it when i went to see it, softlines were the first thing to go on. However it would drive nicer on smaller wheels so will see how it goes, may sell them.

Cool cars when the roof is down, but I hated mine when the roof was up.... Mine was a D plater with low miles and one hell of a leaking problem. Sorted with a new roof, but the water still got inside from the front of the roof where the door glass meets the seal.
Nevertheless a bloody awful car for winter ice on both sides of the front screen, and freezing cold inside. I think they look better with the small spoilers that were fitted to some.

Also yours is dying for some spotlights.

It had a new roof a few years back and looks in great condition but possibly not fitted tight in bits. I like spotlights but definately not the boot spoiler.

Thats it, even the parts that don't affect drive and are out of sight. Everytime you're in the car you know it's there!
