Are Inspections needed for big chassis mods ??
Hi i've been reading through a lot of previous posts and you lot seem quite knowledgable about what is required for Sva's and Iva inspections ?
Just wondered if you lot knew where I could find out what are the limitations for cars that have had the chassis substantially modified from the factory spec.
Im currently building a rear wheel drive fiesta, but plan on removing alot of the original chassis in favour of a tubular space frame set up.
I have large sections of prefabricated chassis that have the mounts ready positioned to accept the front and rear suspension axle etc, but just need to know how far i can go with the cutting before inspections are needed.
Any help would be much appreciated

I believe it you took it for inspection then it will be Q plated regardless of how it's done! i dont even think you are allowed to cut the bulkhead at all nowadays and definitely not allowed to move suspension pick up points without it being Q plated,
With mine i will just get an mot as per normal and see what happens, it will not need sva as its uk with engine change but it i ever get dragged in for an inspection then there is not a lot you can do other than accept it but that is doubtful

I im led to belive that sva inspections are really difficult to pass, and lots of kit cars are sold on having failed it?
Any info on what is required would be a bonus
