Slow progress with this one lol but I'm still hoping to have my engine in late July to August with the clutch breather system cooling and inlet all done! That will just leave the turbo exhaust manifold and system to do ready to run in for mapping early next year when it's dry! Well that's the plan lol
Heads is done block is dropped off and I've payed for the pistons and rods to be ordered

Finally pulled the block out today so I'll strip it on Monday and see what went wrong lol I'm guessing piston or rod broke. Be paying for the work on my new block on the 25th ish so will be one step closer to putting the engine back in

Other 3 rods and pistons are ok so my mates going to put the pistons to use in his after buying a 4th

Also one of the crank counter weights is scored I'll not be using the crank in mine but I'll send it to the mashine shop we use at work to be checked for cracks and balance and see if the score can be removed if so I'll put it up for sale after

When a rod bends and let's go it can break and smash the pistons to its a diff one to work out what went first.

Didn't see Picts before I posted I would guess it was the pin breaking first.

To me as the small end hole is still there just beaten flat lol it looked like the piston broke up and the gudgeon then fell out and the rod beat the bottom of the piston and smashed the block the pin is 3/4 in tact so that didn't brake but it's all guess work really lol
But iver way I did a proper job of it lol

Doing that was Glenn! Just a matter of cutting off the pedal stop and drilling the pedal with an 8mm hole for a clevis pin that will take the rose joint which will screw to the master cylinder push rod.
I'm going to use a wilwood .70 master and e30 bmw slave after reading into it on here. All in with lines and remote bottle should be under Ł100 but I'll have to get my bell housing modded as are alloy welder at work is shit lol

How far down the clutch pedal do you drill the hole for the pin?

Taken from a resto thread on here pointed out by the guy who's thread it is and jay. 50mm down from the center of the pedal bush hole. Also before I mount the the master I'll make sure it's sitting nice before drilling the bulk head for the master.

I'm sick of the car it's a money pit lol but it's my hobby and it dose still make me smile purely because of how fast it was. I'm going through the car front to back so once it's next mot'ed I'll not have to spend any more money on it. So as well as doing the engine I'll also be putting adjustable front arms on it a 6 degree beam and supra diff
Lucky enough every thing else on the car is already done like box brakes and things like that

The 4i would of been on the road ages ago if I didn't have the 3dr.

Family life, bills etc come first before the 4i is back on the road, almost saved enough now

Ha ha I wish I've a lot to do. I'm chipping away at the little jobs at the mo like clutch set up and mounting my breather / moving battery to boot.
Engine wise I think I'm just waiting on the pistons so the liners can be fitted. So shouldn't depending how long they take be too long till that can start to go back togther.

Had a nightmare trying to figure out wear to mount my clutch master on the bulk head as it's such a funny shape! All the others I've seen seem to have the rose joint in the middle of the pedal. Mounted like that I could not mount the master in a nice place and get a nice smooth straight push rod travel. So I got pissed off and did it my own way lol mounting the rose joint to the side on the pedal. I also re enforced the pedal by welding a washer to iver side wear the bolt go's through it.

Mounted my breather to the battery tray as well. Not the greatest of up dates lol but the little jobs are just as important

Been about a year since I broke the old girl now! Progress has been a little slow but the list of parts ive been gathering has been rather expensive! Im not cutting any corners with this I want a very very fast car when its back. All the major engine bits are payed for now and iver with mark or sortly to turn up I just need to drop off a new cranksharft which I will in the next week or so. Also ill be using mechanical lifters but im told its a simple change so in the next few months building the engine should start ready to get it in the car early ish next year. Im thinking ill take my rear beam and gripper diff out as well and get the beam modded to 6 degree and fit a supra diff as I don't think the hewland 7.5 inch cwp will be up to the job!

Picked my sump up from my mate today as he has repaired the two holes in it! Also fitted a boss for my oil temp gauge and the breather return line. He also made a gate style baffle.
