so after some time away from the car due to hitting the gym etc i thought i would come back to it.

Driveshafts both now fitted and speedo cover and gear all reassembled.

oh and i decided to fit the brakes too.

quite a difference in size!

still waiting on wheels so until then updates are limited, after removing one sideskirt i have found a small bubble and the reason the skirts dont fit well is i think a repair has been done at the rear sill in the past so its going in as soon as my wheels arrive to have them properly sorted and so that these skirts finally fit properly!

anyway a pic of the brakes until the wheels arrive. any one got any ideas on refurbing the callipers as on one a lot of the paint has worn off, yellow writing is perfect though.

one fairly annoying bit was that even though the car started on the button after about 2 months after 5 minutes ticking over i now have a noisey tappet which i hate.

dont know if this will just go away or i will need to replace, any advice would be great guys.

One of my favourite wheels for an escos. I will see how the noisey tappet gets on. If you start using the car more it might go away.

Love those wheels you finally got a set then, looking good now just needs a good clean in and out, the tappets should dull down as its bin sitting a while so all the oil has probily drained out of which ever one was left compressed, just leave it on idle for a while when you start it again before you take it for a spin

Thanks guys for the comments,

Today i managed to get some time to get it out the garage and take it for a blast, and thankfully the tapping has gone!

anyway, i also cleaned it to a semi respectable standard as the car actually goes into the bodyshop on saturday to have sideskirts addressed and the seat post rust issue.

all ready for central day!

anyway here is a terrible pic of it back where it should be.

Looks nice mate, are you putting the o.z stickers on the wheels? Think that would finish it off nicely imo

thanks again, I am undecided on the stickers yet, they are £25 so i think i will get them and see what i think, Ive ordered the proper flat centre caps instead of the shocking ones compomotive supply. They will arrive soon.

Ive got fan wiring kit to fit and an alloy Radiator... also a 2 bar proper strut brace instead of the one thats on it.

so ive got plenty of work to do, i just want to get bodywork A1 first.

So been down to have a look today and what an awesome job the painter is doing!

One side completely done and welding in floor done, was a lot bigger than we first thought but at least it's nearly done.

He have me a few pics but there will be plenty more to come. Side skirt that's been done now fits perfect front and back which is what I've always wanted, it's done properly with new nut welded in and all ground down and repaired/repainted, the front fits so much better it's unbeleivable.

Anyway a few pics but will have plenty more soon.

They are just the seat post, unfinished, he didn't send me the rest but I've seen it and it's a real nice finish top and bottom.

Anyway I'll post some more pics when done.

Looking good mate

Its an oversight on Ford's part the seat mounts not being seam sealed water just sits in between the 2 skins and they rust out, I took the 2 floor plates off a new sierra shell that had never been on the road and even that had rust forming between the 2 skins

So no updates for a while due to S1 just taking up all my time and money!, car has been being used in anger and actually working really well touch wood.

done most of the bits i had planned for it and now its just a nice usable one.

going to put a small stereo in it when i can be bothered, just something to make some noise and also want to try and get the exaust sorted so its a bt louder as it must have the quietest system on it ever.

here are some pics from the last couple of months.

Oh and bought a steering wheel too finally at a decnt price to replace this crappy one but its still not arrived.

And the bay now which in my opinion is a massive improvement, especially in the flesh as bay in pics before was not the true reflection to be fair.
