Yeah, ran it n/a at 180bhp for a while was great
Then for some reason wanted a turbo so it ended up with 620bhp per ton which is savage to say the least

Well this is a long over due update and unfortunately there has not been much progress but there is a reason, but here is what I managed to get done..
So after mounting the engine box and I moved onto the gear linkage, a relatively simple task
Cables connected
Hole cut and cables brought through the bulkhead/floor - made a slight cock up and thought I could bring the cables through higher but after cutting that hole realised this was not going to happen and its probably turned out for the better anyway
Old gear linkage hole patched and riv nuts fitted for new gear lever
Then set about repairing the inner wing panels to accept the new wings
Wanted to make the new wings bolt on for maintenance and ease of accessing mechanical parts so set about doing so and getting both fitted in place
Quickly fitted the bumper to check the alignment was ok

Once I knew the wings were on ok I set about cutting away the rest of the slam panel and old fabrication work to gain more space in the front
Brace bar welded in to stop the legs moving as I had the weight of the engine in
With it all cut away I could then test fit the new rad and intercooler set up and realise just how little space I actually had! Both items are the Pace cosworth setup
At that point decided to move onto getting the chassis legs prepped for a new bolt on front 'hoop' that would tie the legs back together and support the intercooler/rad/bumper and headlights

This is where things really started to slow down a bit. I needed a little more storage space to the workshop so made a small addition on the side a a store room and garden shed.. In doing so a familiar sight appeared to many projects that take a while to complete
Having completed the store room I got myself back into it again and bought the vibra technics mount for the engine and cleared the space around the car to get some progress achieved
With this is the headlights would fit back again and I could have a second attempt at working out how to fit the intercooler and rad in with a little bit more luck this time
Knowing that I was on the right path I started making more progress on prepping the chassis legs to accept the new bolt on plates - first up was to make a better repair of some old crash damage
I then started to make some plates to allow the front bar to be removable
Unfortunately it was at this stage that progress has stopped, this was nearly a year ago now and the car has remained in its same place waiting for me to get going again. I have no intention of getting rid of it and the more time goes by the more ideas I am having.
The reason this all happened was because I made the decision to buy a car that I had always wanted to build myself but never had the time and this particular car has the base from which I can build the car I want without the huge time outlay in the beginning.
So in October last year this arrived on my drive way
Some of you may recognise the car as it was owned by a member on here, but this is what has been taking up my time recently and has kept me far busier than I had thought! I will start a new thread on the progress on this soon but for the now the Ka is waiting for me to get to a stage with the puma that I'm happy with so I can then turn my attention back to the Ka.
Watch this space..
Many thanks for looking

Wouldn't even try! I've repaired sills and arches in the past with the car sat up on axle stands and now having done it this way I would never bother to do it any other way. It's so much easier and you can achieve much better results.

So unfortunately a sad update..
The time has come to admit defeat on this one and move on. With the arrival of the Puma, the amount of work that has had over the last year and the looming large house project planned I am simply not going to have time to complete this in any realistic timescale.
So as of now the car is looking for someone who would be willing to take it on and give it a new lease of life.
It can be available with as many parts or as few as required, but the shell needs to be one of the first to go.
If some of you that followed this thread are interested then please send me a pm and see if it's something you could work with. Would be a shame to see it go to the scrapers!
Many thanks for all your comments.

Only just spotted that this is being retired. Sorry to hear that buddy. Your gearbox mounts will at least live on in my Ka, which is getting there as slowly as yours was It will run in 2016 though or I'm torching it!

Yeah bit if a sad decision.. Had the car so long it's makes it difficult. I still have it at present, it's back as a rolling shell so I could make room for the puma in the garage. Glad to hear the mounts from the old conversion are being put to good use. Don't buy another car and see it through!
