Progress again, tidied engine bay, fitted new gaiters, cleaned and repainted engine, gave it a new cambelt and water pump. Fitted the engine bay in the bay with vibratechnics engine and gearbox mounts, be interesting to see what it’s like with the full polyurethane bushes and mounts.

Also decided on a change of wheels, not gonna be everybody’s choice but I like them. Also fitted mudflaps, spoiler and new plates.

The reason it’s all coming out is because I’m fitting this

Little update, modified rover inlet onto zetec flange, focus Rs gearbox, loads of mods and loads of money spent.

Looks good mate. Where did you get your mounts done? Iv got an st170 box to go in mine but I was going to get the mounts from the focus and do it that way. But I like your one as it doesn't take to much room.

Its a tight squeeze getting the engine and gearbox in that's for sure. Ive converted mine to this gearbox, need to take my box back out and i'm dreading doing it at home in my single car garage.

LITTLE SECRET!!

Hope this will help a lot of people and save a lot of hassle!!

I had MK1 Escort World Cup crossmember engine mounts for a 2.0 pinto spare so they’re cut down and modified to fit.

So they’re made to fit, then it’s shaped around the ledge on the Escort, A lot less space taken when using the focus original set up. Mine has a rear adjustable rose jointed stabiliser. The gearbox top mount was on the box when I bought it, gearbox doesn’t fit without at least trimming the inner wing, I cut it out and put a recess in which gained me loads of space.

Very tight squeeze for sure, I’ve had mine out around 4-5 times so can literally do it with my eyes closed 😂

I'm hoping to drop the engine and box out the bottom together, ideally sweat talking my gaffer and using a ramp at work for a few days while the box goes away.

Have you done your gear cables yet?

What are you doing for the speedo?

Looks great, I'd lose the solid lightweight bottom pulley though. The standard pulley is a harmonic damper, blacktop oil pumps suffer with harmonics and crank walk .

If you remove the roll bar it should all drop out, yeah I have installed the RS shift tower and cables, cut a hole In the floor and moved the grommet up to suit, I am installing a race dash inside the original binnacle. It’s off for the management and mapping next week

Kind of the same thing, mine were a different make to that but I’m sure they can do the same job. The rear one is again an engine mount that’s been cut and made a little narrow to fit the rear stabiliser. As long as you have a grinder and a welder you can make it work

Update

car is back from mapping, made decent power but it’s going back for more as there was a slight boost leak and a couple of small oil leaks so I decided to have the car back to sort these and then take it back. The alloy boost pipe was temporary as I’m changing a couple of things, also changed the wheels to 16” gold race line rl7’s

As I’m having a race dash I needed to sort a way of mounting it, I wanted to keep the original binnacle so I had a spare laying around, cut out all the middle section, replaced with an alloy infill panel and then fibreglassed the lot for strength, then I will be flocking this and mounting the screen and all the telltale signals

Decided to tackle the centre console to see what I’m up with, i had to cut some bits out for the cables to fit but I will be filling those in and maybe mounting the boost controller there. I also had some spare focus rs bits so fitted the start button and a build number but this one is 0000

I'm in a similar state with my centre console. Although I had the insert from a model with the amplifier but I've housed 3 gauges.
