looking good mate !! just started my puma project, starting at the rear so thinking of st rear brakes.
is it all fiesta st ?
hubs
discs pads
calipers and cables
??
if so, do the hubs bolt straight on to puma rear subframe ??

Yeh you need everything off a fiesta st including the handbrake cables.

The brake lines are the same and yeh it all bolts up ton the standard puma rear beam, the only thing I found was my puma brake lines were a little but short but they work fine

Either fit axle spacers or cut abit away from the sub frame. Ford went with the spacers on the frp lol.

Very temped with a set but unsure about them only being height adjustable

still in the build period, and in no rush so not tested them yet.
doing project on a budget so gone with cheapo coilovers, ebay specials from Germany, made by TuningArt, and yes only height adjustable but look ok on first inspection.
watch this space......... lol

For the money there pretty good, if you can stretch to then get something like Gaz Golds, but im happy enough with the AP's there firm but work well on the track, if i get a chance im going to upgrade to Gaz's

Anyway....

Right... Time to get cracking on the car once again, landed myself a new job 3 weeks ago and im loving it, im now working for Lafarge Tarmac at Mountsorrel quarry so instead of a 70 mile round trip to get to and from work i now do just 3 miles!! more money, less travel = happy me!

this means i have finally have some disposable income to play with so i can get back to playing around with the car. Ive done a few little bits, sorted the warning lights out on the dash, fitted a new battery in the boot, ran new wiring and a kill switch. Ive also lowered the front abit more by about 10mm.

but anyway... less chat more pictures right?

last week was the first time id drove the car since july and what a first drive it was, Oulton Park for a track day!

video of my last session, probably when i was pushing the hardest and really starting to get a feel for the track, id had a chat with the instructor for the day for about 20 mins or so before going out, he used to race a puma in the german puma cup and had some great advice on how to drive the car, took it all on board and the laps certainly felt quicker, i was also able to carry more speed through the corners as i was previously turning in to early, amazing what a quick chat did for me, should of got him the car for a quick lesson!

Hi jay car looks great as ever! We have just bought one in black to go racing next year!
We're about to gut the poor thing this weekend, what is an achievable weight for a puma? I've got to work out what power we need but no idea what I can get the car to!

Did you notice if your car handled better with rear wheel spacers.

Yeh the rear wheel spacers made a big difference, made the car feel much more stable at the rear,

Jimbo - I'm not sure of the weight you can achieve I need to get mine checked to see how much I've actually removed but I bet you could get a good 200kg's out of it at least.

great looking car and goes very well.
losing 200kg is massive though and i would think it would be very hard to acheive. just going by my focus losing 100+kg wasnt easy and i weighed every nut bolt and smallest peice of interior plastic. ive still got some kgs left to remove but not another 100 ish although i wish i did.

Really its not that much if you brake it down, your calipers are the most cost but the rest of it you can spend on upgrading std 300mm brakes he'll I've spent over Ł500 on my 300mm and I'm still running st170 calipers lol.

Lol my pads cost over Ł100 it all adds up, Just on my rear drums I spent Ł150 using oem parts from different fords lol but it's all tight as fuck lol with the shoes near enough not on the adjuster I can only just fit the drums on lol hopefully it doesn't give me as much issues as the 180mm discs I had fitted before lol.

Right time for an update.. this time with some pics!!

I'l start by explaining what mods ive done to the puma recently, nothing major but it makes the car, more reliable/look better/more fun.

First off id had enough of a constant flat battery with my little race one, so i went for something a little bit more heavy duty....

Nicw big ass Bosch 063, shouldnt have too much trouble with starting my engine and it has a 3 year warrenty which is perk!
Name: image5_zpsbed7f44d.jpeg
Views: 1135
Size: 64.0 KB

And to go with the battery I did a proper job of fitting my kill switch, Ive got another one that I can wire the ignition into at some point.
I also picked up an Omex launch control system... This was more for fun, and the fact that I can now shoot some big flames out from the exhaust.

My new favourite button.
Name: image1_zps30b08cb3.jpeg

I also got bored and started to sticker bomb the inside of the roof... adds abit of colour.

Just before christmas a dumb dominos delivery driver reversed into my car, broke one of my canards and ruined the bumper, managed to get the insurance to cover the cost and I created my new front bumper.

Cheers, I enjoy it, isnt the most powerful car in the world but it always puts a smile on my face, I see a lot of epic builds but the amount of time they spend off the road being built would just do my head in, id much rather just enjoy driving it.
