did make me smile a little seeing your excitement when the figures started going up!...... an impressive number when you consider you're still on the standard cams.
I feel like i may have to follow suit soon
It's a shame a set of cams with supporting hardware is so bloody expensive

Thank you all for comments. I don't have an overlay but will post the 2 graphs. It was nice to actually be happy at that dyno as it's kicked my ass last twice.

That's a great figure and for someone doing there own work . As stated above these engines seem to be really poor in terms of standard tune and how they react to tuning . I would be seriously be wanting 250 bhp + at the wheel if I had itb , ported head and raised compression. They just don't seem to want to give anything. A standard race line zetec you would be looking at 220/240 bhp easily with them mods.
The st170 head is far better flowing than any other zetec head and also has 1mm over sized valves as well .
Really looking forward to a video to see it in action mate and see how it goes compared to a standard one.
Cheers paul

it's important to remember that he's still on the standard cams. In terms of actual figures that the car would of ran prior to itb's - he's had quite the increase.

Iam only saying as my st170 is slow as fuck but it is pretty standard just a throttle body and all the billet parts to make it reliable.

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
I've been thinking about the stock cams, the exhaust cam is the restriction in my opinion as the inlet one is more aggressive and has VVT. a 270 degree exhaust will help top end.

I'm in no way slating his hard work and yes the figures are good ,iam talking in terms of the engine and how bad it is from factory and nowhere near the 170 bhp ford quoted but as stated above they just don't seem to give anything without spending a fortune.

Keep forgetting to check back here so missed the chat. A power figure if 197bhp isn't the most impressive but it's worth noting the gains on the same dyno. Iv seen a good few st170s go on a dyno dynamics rolling road and the highest bhp iv seen is 155. Lowest 148. Ignore all the 170 to 180 bhp claims on standard cars when comparing to my figure. They haven't been on a dyno Dynamics yet. Its a hear breaker for bhp. But in terms of gain if we take the highest figure of 155bhp for a standard car that makes me 42bhp above standard. I similar species blacktop would make around 20bhp less than mine. To get 220/240 from a blacktop your talking far more money than iv spent and I'd be pretty sure it would need 8k rpm.

Mmm. It would be a pig if its rings. When I pulled plugs the top of pistons are wet like you would get form stem seal leak. I didn't know it was smoking as bad as it is until I watched rear view footage at donington. After decel it puffs blue when you first get back on power then clears. What's your opinions on that? Thanks for help chaps

Yep sounds like stems to me, but they aren't entirely dead. Its actually not that bad for a race engine to burn some oil so until the get very very bad I wouldn't touch em. Just keep an eye on the oil level and pressure. Your car is the reason I want to own an ST.
