Well done mate, matts a good old stick, and his rollers are pretty bang on so at least your not having the wool pulled. Would of liked to see your dyno sheet from the other place. Did you sort your misfire?

thanks paul.
theres a big mystery surrounding my first mapping session. it made 189bhp but didnt feel that fast. it turned out the vvt wasnt mapped properly so thats why i ended up going to matt. so the previous 189 made 153 at matts dyno. there seemed to be a big problem on first dyno with the difference from the wheels to flywheel figure. almost 50bhp which is not normal for a fwd. so anyway that saga is behind me now. i spent a fair bit on first mapping session and it was a waste. luckily matt stepped up and helped me out and mapped it for almost free. basically the price of a power run.
the misfire is fixed but it wasnt any of my sensors. turned out to be noise interference on the crank wires of the loom and was cutting out the sync to the ecu. motorsport electronics wrote me a new ecu firmware with a noise filter built in and cured it.
next on my agenda is building a new exhaust as im pretty sure the 2 inch i have now is strangling some ponies. i need to go up to 2.5 inch i think.

Hi Mate, this has been a good read. Excellent work you've been doing! You really have shown the rest of us the way!
Couple of questions,
I have probably missed the answer some wher ein your thread, but what made you switch from 17" wheels down to 16" ? Did you do some comparison calculations on wheel dia/rolling radius/mph per 1000 revs/tyre size/etc and come up with 16" as the best way forward?
Also, I see why you have the hole in the floor for access to the fuel tank/pump etc., but have you fitted a cover plate to it, just in case of (perish the thought)a roll over/damage ?
Cracking looking motor, absolutely love it And really helpful tips in here even for us real amateurs

Thank you. 16s came about by chance. i actually wanted 15s just for the theory of smaller rolling radius on the wheel is similar effect to changing the final drive on gearbox. plus cheaper track tyres but a mate was selling the 16s so bought them without to much thought. yes i did have a cover over it but its been removed for about the last yr or so. it was a crappy one and i need to make something tidy. to be honest your spot on and it constantly comes into my mind about rolling and blowing the lid off the tank. its on my to do list and your comments have moved it higher up the priority list. il get it done before next track day. cheers.

nothing major really. mot. front wings iv put back to standard so dont have the bulge no more. few map tweaks to idle so just small jobs. i found i had very inconsistent brake feel due to the servo vacuum pipes being too small so im waiting on some parts to make the hoses bigger and hopefully get some better pedal.

made a cover for fuel pump opening
Having no idle control valve for cold starts means iv gone old school and fitted a choke pull.
picked up a nearly new set of yokohama a048 but have to burn off a set of federals befroe they get used
left of this pic is how i had brake vacuum set up but pipes were to small and brake feel was very inconsistent. sometimes pedal was firmer than others depending on how much vaccuum. and forget 2 quick stops in a row as second push was solid. so right hand side is new set up gradually increasing pipe size from the 4mm of the bodies up to 12mm of the standard ford pipe. also fitted one way vales for each bank of 2 so if a pipe on one side was to come loose or split then i would still retain vacuum.
so thats all until after brands hatch on wednesday. thanks for looking

Be interesting to see if it goes better without the diffuser Mate, I was thinking of getting one built myself to get rid of the parachute effect.
Looking good though, and nice job on the pump cover too
