Default My old girl

Hi to you all I see you have my old girl for a bit of tlc. Thought she had been lost to the crusher, see her in the merry days at, http://www.motorsport-fanatic.co.uk/...ersaloons.html. Brief history was a brand new Motorsport shell, front inner wings raised 2 inch and then the rear floor pan arches stretched and raised 2 inch to give a lower C of G and longer wheelbase, and then extensive cage and body mods to house the Farop rear diff, ( as fitted to Ossie touring cars and take 900 bhp ) then a Quaiffe 6 speed sequential dog all driven by a development Jaguar XJR 11 ( A 1986 silk cut jag group C car ) 3 litre twin turbo V6 engine with a crappy 800 bhp and 650 ft lb of torque. The fuel tanks were up and down because thunder saloons were 2 races with no refuelling and the fuel was low to the floor. All in all bit of a beast gearbox needed a rebuild after each meeting but diff was a fit and forget. Rear shaft were by GKN Motorsport and were also mint. Rear hubs were 6R4 with brakes etc and the fronts were Gp A sierra with metro flanges and 15 inch 6 pot group c brakes. It took about a year to build and about 60k to fund, a used it for about 3 seasons before building a Gt racer with the engine in. Also run a group n sapphire at the same time as the Escat, he did like to play. Shit that was a few years hard work !!!!

Have been a busy boy but no pics yet.

Have cut out the crappy bulkhead which some prat installed in the past and re-fabricated the steering linkage.

If you had seen the V6 in there you would understand the removable bulkhead and why the dry sump tank was on the n/s inner bulkhead. It were not a 5 minute fitment and the steering column had to go all round the headers !

Not seen the original installation but somebody welded in a new bulkhead and made a crap job. The engine going in is a 700BHP YB so I am thinking of reducing the room to make it more aesthetically pleasing

Great to hear some proper history on the car. Love how bonkers it is!

Where did Derek happen to come across these rare and wonderful parts? A Jag engine like that must have been rare and expensive back then!
