Mk1 RS1600 ex rally car
RS1600 Mk1s were growing on me more n more so last year i decided it´s time to have one.
I bought a very very sorry beaten up rally car that had seen lots of action in its days. Once the car was dismantled it got apparent that not a lot was reusable, so on i went in search of all the period correct parts in a decent condition.
Thanks to a few specialists and ebay we now have almost everything together to build a streetcar i could use daily and take my little daughter along in it.
So Gary from Retromotorsport came over to help in the mission of replacing more than a dozen panels, and make use of the 2 large sheets of metal i had ordered in for this little adventure @ my own workshop.
We started by tearing off the old bubbles, the front fenders, both inner wings, cut the tunnel out, etc etc etc
He created more metal dust from cutting than i had ever seen anyone produce, filthy bugger
Some of the features of this car:
Wilwood 4 pots front, Sierra 4WD on the back
BDG 2.1 on 48´s or TB´s
ZF S5 18/3 Gearbox with Synchro Gearkit
Atlas Axle with ZF Diff by Fostek
Gartrac Watercooler and Drysump Tank
Twin Facet Pumps working the Proalloy Tank
Watts Links
Seatbelts for all 4 Passengers & ISOFIX in the middle
Leather Corbeau Period Seats and matching rear
All steel shell, re-stitch welded and leaded bubbles, a zero filler car
etc etc etc
The purists will now start their screaming but u know what, i want it the way i want it and end of.
Here´s some pics of the half finished product, sorry but i just took some quick snaps, more when i am back from holidays :
