3 Door Cosworth/RS500 Rep Tidy Up
After my black 3 door taking so long due to trying to find as many new parts as possible, i bought this mk 1 focus rs which was a nice car but didnt quite do it for me and i was itching for another cosworth
I was thinking about selling the focus when my good friend martyn said he was going to sell his three door rs500 rep so i deal was done and i ended up with this car.
Ive had this car for about a year now with no problems at all (keep expecting some being a cosworth) and looking at the car now it just needs a few things sorting out, the body and paint have picked up some chips and scratches so that will be the first job to sort, interior just needs a really good clean and the engine will just be getting a new set of sensors and tidy up and a tune up/check over as it doesnt idle very well from cold start for about 5 minutes and is then fine.
Started off with a soak in g101 and a good jet wash off.
Might of washed it to hard as some paint started coming off under the gutters!!!
Front bumper side bracket has been damaged and stuck on but i have a scrap 3 door bumper so the side brackets will be swapped onto the 500 bumper.
The car must have been broken into at some time as the tailgate lock is nearly hanging out so this will be repaired, i have a spare tailgate but it has been de-locked.
Started taking the car apart and so far its coming apart very easily, no snapped bolts yet.

The focus was a very good car but was completely standard low miles, i should have bought a modded one as people have said they are a completely different car at 3-350 bhp, not as much fun as a cossie though.
More work done on the car will load pics later.

Both n/s wheels have a ding in them thanks to some idiot in a transit coming straight at me down a narrow road, it was either a big smash or up the curb and i chose the kerb, wheels will be getting a full refurb anyway and the company i use have said they will be repairable.
Managed to have a few more hours on the car this week, spent about 2 hours carefully taking the rear spoiler off that had been bonded on.
Took a few more parts off the body and started sanding the front end down, paint is coming off easily so shouldnt take too long. Got a busy week this week so will try and have a few hours on the car when i can.

Managed to have a few hours on the car, the old paint is coming off in sheets on some panels and the rest is just coming off with a razor blade, surprised it stayed on the car as long as it has.
Passenger door has about half an inch of filler in it so will be replaced, i have a spare door but it has been de-locked so will clean off around the lock and see what condition the rest of the door is in.
old door
Had a look at the drivers sill aswell and its not good will need new sill and have too check the inner sills, think ill take the seats and carpet out now and check the floor and inner sills more work but at least ill know if its ok or not.
Sill
Will try and get a bit more work done this week, not long till show season.

Well after wanting to get the car ready for the coombe show and realising this week that it is today thought i better get on with the car, with all the crap weather and a lot of personal stuff going on lost interest for a while but started to get back into it.
Fixed the broken side bracket on the front bumper
took the bracket off an old 3 door bumper i had
Carried on taking the old paint off the car body is really good underneath so luckily it was just a bad paint job on top
Just a couple of small dents on the drivers door and will take off on monday and etch prime and prime, it gets surface rust really quickly at the moment because of so much moisture in the air because of all the rain weve had so need to get a move on.
New sill turned up friday so can start to cut old one out now.
Had a bit of time today so took seats and carpet out to check floor, needs a repair to floor and inner sill and the usual seat mount plates but other than that its all good so will start welding next week.
More to come next week.

Didn't have as much time as i thought i would have on the car last week but managed to get the drivers door etch primed and primed.
Got the rest of the old paint off the bonnet just some dents to repair and hopefully get primed this week.
Also got my spare passenger door out and started to clean off the old paint to see what condition its in, all looks good so far a couple of small dents and a lot of paint but looks to be straighter than the door thats on the car, just need to de-de-lock the door now but should be ok.
Hope to get some more done this week and will update.
