Default 2wd saff resto PIC Heavy

so i thought i'd start my resto thread as the car is so very nearly finished now

bought it about 3 years ago looked like this

spent a few quid on it and tarted upa few bits and looked like this for a few months.

THEN one slippery january(2011) afternoon i get a phone call from the misses who is hysterical and crying she spun the cossie and stuck it in some trees And looked like this. sorry for the bad quality there off a phone.

This was the drivers side rear wheel which hit the kurb first as she went into the trees backwards luckily she wasn't hurt at all just shaken up a bit.

Once i got it home and cleaned it up the damage wasn't that bad new wheel new drivers side trailing arm, front bumper and 4 new tyres and i could of had it on the road again but i decided to have it repanited.

Once i started to strip it i noticed that the rear panel was rotten so ripped it off

managed to get a new genuine ford rear panel from up north some where a mate sorted it out for me

The doors wern't great on it and all bar one had a small amount of rust i has a doner sierra that i was breaking that had 4 excellent doors so they went on

rust free doors but unfortunatly had a few car park dings but a mate of mine works ina body shop so he sorted that( he painted the car also).

once all the filler work was done it was then primed and flatted.

Off to to paint shop

We stone chipped all the sill degreased and masked up

Then the paint went on

more to follow

thanks for looking
Phil

it had new sill section put in at the back both sides and a new section welded on the tunnel passenger side.

Got a replacment wheel and had them all refurbed and painted gloss black

I also took the whole rear end off and gave it all a lick of paint and replaced the fuel tank with a brand new one.

whilst the beam was off i replaced the diff mount for a MSD one solid beam mounts and changed the drop links for CDF Racing ones

I had to modify the anti roll batr to take the drop links as they would not push onto the lugs so i ground of the lip on the arb and then drilled and tapped an M6 thread in the end of the lug once the drop link was pushed on i then bolted a large stainless washer to the arb.

I also aquired a set of Evo 8 brembos for the front and made up some brakets to fit them.

in order to get the brackets to fit the caliper a small amount of grinding is required so that the bracket sits flat across the mounting lugs. some grinding is also needed inbetween the two caliper mounting lugs to allow the hub to sit flush with the caliper this means the caliper can sit straight rather than being at a funny angle like the FRS brembo conversion.

modded caliper on the right

trial fit

2wd front disk will be using FRS 324mm ones

17" Comp MO5

Then had the calipers powder coated

Once i got it back home i gave it a few days for the paint to harden properly and then started to put it back together.

After being a hater of the ambers i started to actually preferre them (may be as i turned 30) so have decided to go with ambers and ditch my smoked rear and clear fronts.

I decided to have a play with that 3m carbon wrap so covered the rear window spats as they needed painting anyway and had enough left to cover the rear window triangles and fog light surrounds.

need to put the little sapphire badges back on yet.

And today i put on the de wiper bumper trim, bumper, fogs and surronds. I did put the rear bumper on to but no pics as yet got too dark by the time i was finished.

Good to see another one saved. Good job too buddy. A lot of people would've taken the excuse of the accident to break it, sell off the bits and buy another. But now you will have the personal satisfaction of being able to say "I did that" when you get good comments given to you about it, and you will I'm sure.

Good job mate, and definitely the right choice with the ambers.

Nice resto, good to see the car wasn't too badly damaged & your partner wasn't hurt.

Do you think those brakes will work with the pad area not covering all the disc?
