mk1 fiesta 1100L (my 1st car)
Hi
I'm new to the site so thought i would start a build thread of my car to let you all see how it's come on and what i ill do next.
I bought the car in April last year. so heres a little bit about the car it is a 1978 1100L thats done 51000 mile genuine, and was zeibarted from new so has no rust in it at all. I bought it of the wife of a production line manage at ford who got given it by ford for his dedication :P, and i still have the letter from ford head quarters that they sent him when they gave him the car.
Heres some pics of when i got it.
and heres a load of how it has progressed over the year.
When i got the car it came with a set of wolfrace pepperpots
and after a couple of weeks of work...
But unfortunately they stuck out of the arch and rubbed at stock hight so they had to go. But luckily a set of rs 4 spokes the wheel i wanted but didn't think i could find or afford came up for sale for £50, so i had them i havn't got any pics of how i got them but here's some as i was sorting them.
blasted
polished
finished
Then i decided i wanted a debadged grill so bought a grill off of someone that worked at classic ford and while chatting they asked what i was doing and it turned out they wanted a bit on how to make a debadged grill for the magazine so i made it and they photographed, and it went in the magazine. (i won't bore you with the grill making pics far to many lol)
oh and i changed the number plates which i now regret as i don't like them any more. and yes i do no that the number plate is wonky :P.
Next was the bit you all love it got lowered 8-). I used fiesta center lowering springs (couldn't afford adjustable coilovers maybe one day) and this is how it looked.
But was still a little bit high at the back and way way to high at the front. so I took the rubber spring cups out of the back to bring it down another 5/10mm maybe, and then the front got mk2 xr2 fiesta struts which are stiffer and mk2 fiesta struts lower a mk1 another inch.
rear arch gap
sill height (the phone is 5 inchs high)
looking squat
I know it's no where near as low as some of the stuff on here but i like it at the moment but i can feel the grinder coming out for those springs :P.
And then i did some bits on the interior, It got a different steering wheel, some escort cossie recaro's, and a rev counter, 4 speakers and a radio anda center consul.
painted and cut out ready for the radio
steering wheel and radio fitted
Then i painted the needles on the gauges
so that's it really heres a couple of the most recent pictures and my favorites

the 2 normal points mount where the normal seat belts do and the 3rd one that goes over the back of the seat is mounted where the rear lap belt used to mount.

A Little bit of an update
after a winter of daily use the wheels weren't looking as fresh as they was so re did them
finally finished polishing the pepper pot's (bit late as there suposed to be winter wheels but in no rush now :P )
made a little switch panel
had the exhaust system ally blasted (pop's alot now :twisted1: )
new gear knob :P and a good clean
and painted the parcel shelf and stuck a ford sticker in the middle and rubbed it right down so it looks pressed in
all so managed to find a proper janspeed 4 branch
i tinted the rear indercaters
and here's a couple of recent pic's
and stuck new rally design springs all round today will get a picture of how its sitting now soon

i have a 1.1 mk1 fiesta with 12k on the clock in venetian red and i have it waiting for when i pass my test. I'm really liking your car, and wanted to know 1) what size and width are those rs spokes as they are perfect? 2) Is your exhaust system all janspeed or is it custom? ..... If you could reply it would be much appreciated
