Good spot on the cage as well
Anyhoo - todays job was to put another crankcase breather take off into the back of the block as the front breather hole is now obscured by the manifold.
So, a core plug was fitted to seal that hole up:
Hole drilled in the back of the block:
Tapped:
Done:
Then it was time to clearance another intermediate section to avoid fouling the ARP main cap stud and nut kit:
Quick tidy up with a flash of paint:
(Speaking of paint - the sump pan got a good freshen up too after last nights welding)
Then it was time to get everything back together for final build:
Oh, and if anyone has access to a brand new VVT inlet pulley - please make yourself known

So i take it your going to keep the vvt?
I'll look forward to see how you get on with that as i know the ports are mahoosive!!! In comparison with even a fully worked blacktop head,
But no one seems to be able to get them to work right??
I had dta control the vvt on an old escort of mine with st170 lump on itb's and it was fine and was a good weapon with 215bhp!!!

EC3 (The big brother of the ECU i'm using on my car), Pectel T6 2000 & SQ6, Motec M800 - they're the ones i've actually seen dedicated calibration pages in the mapping software for. Sadly for both Pectel and Motec it's not included in the base ECU price, its an 'extra' that'll cost you!

Just a quick one, managed to get a bit more done today.
Gave the exhaust manifold a good clean out and went final fit with that and the turbo:
Then came the time to reluctantly drill holes in the Jenvey plenum!
Bosch 3.5bar TMAP sensor fitted:
Tomorrow will be spent looking into relocating the crank position sensor, the accessibility at the moment isn't great and if I need to change the sensor trackside, I don't really want it to be a complicated job!

Yes, there is a tapered flare on the bit that sits into the hole so it will seal on that. Would have been nice to have employed the O ring to do the sealing, however there just isn't enough meat in the plenum wall.

Just a quick update - drowning in a sea of uni work at the moment - less than a month until final hand ins!
Made a start on the new drive by wire throttle pedal modifications the other night:
Remote oil filter take off fitted to the block:
Fittings in wastegates ready for hardlines to be made once the forming tool arrives:
And my Injector Dynamics ID1000s have arrived:

Not cheap though. Over twice the price of a normal set of 4 injectors

Everyone will need to change their cosworth ECUs to aftermarket ones then to run ID's then mate as they only make high impedance injectors and the L1/6/8 & P8 ECUs all run low impedance...

Yes mate - 1000cc, however, IDs are IMHO the future in injectors. From the factory they're flow tested and matched so that when you buy a set, they ALL flow exactly the same! The spray pattern is maintained between 3bar and 7bar fuel pressure and that pattern is stunning. Most 1000cc injectors strongly resemble a 'cow pissing on a rock', i'd go so far as to say that these have a better spray pattern than most modern standard production cars.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
The 2000cc injectors are very good injectors also and can easily get down to lambda 1 on the last evo I did with them.

Quick update - things have been a bit slow recently as there was a delay getting some of the remaining parts through and uni work has taken priority...
Anyway, few quick pics.
Brackets for alternator and power steering pump were looking a bit tired:
So blasted them with glass bead to bring them up:
Also, made up a crank sensor relocation bracket: (ignore the bolt sticking out - i'm changing it!)
Finally got the long awaited brand new VVT inlet cam pulley:
So cracked on to get the cams timed and the belt on:
Got the new injectors fitted too:
Then got all the new auxiliary belt idlers/tensioners on:
Made the schoolboy error of giving my old alternator in for exchange on a new one with the pulley still on the end of it... So need to find a pulley and then I can get the belt fitted!
Now on with finishing off the wiring loom:
Hopefully it's not long off getting fitted into the car!

I have the old alt from my mondeo sat here mate with pulley still attached. You can have it either complete or I can see if my two-legged puller will get the pulley off. Let me know.
Obviously it was on a v6 so let me know what the dims should be and I'll check.
If you need it I can get it couriered to you for tuesday.
Engine looking good!

Cheers guys!
Done a bit more on the loom today before bailing home - its far too cold!
Global warming? Very over-rated...
