Here is a little project me and my mate are knocking together.
Take 1 mk1 escort shell that was turned down for restoration as being too much work by 4 different escort specialists, and 1 jap import Nissan Pulsar, mix them up a little, and let the weldathon commence.
so are these 4x4 or front wheel drive?
And looks like an interesting project, though if you don't mind me asking, why use gtir stuff? Surely there is easier, cheaper and better running gear available.

the gtir was an awesome car in its day there 4x4 & turbo & if the price is right why not they are quiet strong & reliable as long as you do not go stupid power .
i know they are good. . . when they are right. ive only been in a few but the ones ive been around have always had problems, its always 'just this that needs sorting' and 'just abit of blue smoke' but i suppose its like renault 5 turbo's, some people stand by them but all the ones ive been around have blown up before to long.
dare i say it though its no different with YB's
should be a good project though
I chose the gti-r because the wheelbase is only 30mm longer than a mk1, so no need to chop the floorpan, and 300 bhp should be fairly easy to get from it.
The escort shell was bolloxed due to it being converted for a rover v8 in the past, and the welding was done by stevie wonder!
The wheels were fitted to the gti-r when i bought it, they will be replaced once the car is ready for the road.
i wonted to skyline mine when i wos building it but then thought better for doing it should be good as long as the box holds out as their worse than the 4x4 cossie box
Nice one what was the shell orignally?? I see it was daytona yellow.Being different is what its all about i was slated a bit once for starting to fit a zvh in a mk1 but who cares. What colour is it going to be when finshed??Yellow ones are faster. LOL..

The car is originally tawny brown, there are various different shades of paint on the escort. The car will be going red outside, black inside. Either radiant red or magenta.
Whitspeed?? Have you got old ford autos new number???Have heard they have moved.SHP ?i know they make fibreglass bodys dont know about flip fronts.Hope it helps

Reason: crap grammer
I managed to get through to old ford autos re the flipfront. They won't be ready for another couple of months, but we may need to add 30mm to the wings/bonnet at the a pillar to get everything sitting right. I may just use the steel wings, with a fibreglass bonnet to get it done.
I will probably be getting the car done in time for the christmas track day at donno.
But i said that about the sierra last year!
It is still a work in progress, many life related incidents have occurred in the mean time, but it now has the finance in place to be completed. stay tuned.
Well, the car has been moved to a different location/fabricator after the previous guy did fook all for 6 months!!!!!!!
I have given him a deadline of 2 months to get it done. We shall see...............
There has been a little progress, but not a lot. I have just bought back the sierra in my other project thread, so that will keep me occupied for a little while.
Just wish the car was finished, then i could enjoy it during this nice weather that we dont have much of! :/
