Little bit more done today, but first, for Damo......

I found me oil cap

Todays job was to get the engine harness out of the car to make sure it was in good fettle cos I dont want to spunk all that money on an engine rebuild and there to be a dodgy harness and melt the bugger

Harness was in good shape, bar a few bits of insulation coming off. Decided to fit it on to the engine to see if I could re route it cos I dont like the harness running over the top of the inlet, makes the bay look untidy imo. Trial fitted it and had to do a few adjustments and after a little while got it sitting where Im happy. Should look a bit tidier in the bay now

*Phone pics as usual so quality is a bit shit*

Cheers chaps. Ive decided that after searching I cant find a decent leg for the car or one for sensible money so Im just gonna chop out the rot and fab new sections up and see how it looks. If its not 100% then Im going to thicken the underside in sealer and just stoneguard it black, fill all the cavities with waxoyl and bolt all the painted bits on. It should still look tidy enough. If it does look a tidy job then Ill probably still go ahead with paiting the floor properly.

Time to get the welder out before the weather gets worse and its sits all winter in its current state.

Spent some time in the garage last night polishing the strut brace from "RIW", its the only thing Im not painting in the engine bay. Its being left with its scratches and marks for sentimental reasons. I loved that car.

Fire charring from when I crashed RIW

Before and after

Shiny again

So the time has come to take the interior out for a closer look at what lies under the carpets. Might as well look at it now before the welding gets done on the underside.

Carpet used to be kept mint

Offside rear floor, where a repair has been done previously.

Nearside rear floor. A little bit of rust next to the seat mount

Poked through

Drivers foot well, floor to sill has prodded through too

Front of floorpan has had a repair previously and needs more

I spy daylight

Finally the passenger footwell

Some gout on the tunnel

Which as per, prodded through

Lifted the sound deadening up and saw it had had a repair on that side too, but again needed more and I prodded again

So the fucking shell is like swiss cheese and Im getting pissed off with it now. Its always one step forward and three steps back . Ordinarily I wouldnt have minded too much but still being off work and being skint its just getting too much hassle to keep chucking good money after bad at it.

Seriously considering stripping it, putting the bits in the loft and scrapping the shell and having some time away from Cossies till Im back on my feet (literally) and working again. Then I'd look for a mint shell that needs running gear and job jobbed..... I'd hope

Pissed off so going to the offie for some lager :drink:

Nightmare matey. It only needs a bit of welding though. You have been out of work a while now are you still not 100% right.

What black paint are you using.Im thinking about painting my rear beam when i drop it out this winter.

Oh my god mine gone here to both passenger and drivers side and around seat anchor point too looks like its vey common stick with it mate just read your whole thread love to be able to do half of what u have done I was gonna sell mine but keeping it now got all the carpet out phoned the mobile welder got his number from google and he specialises in old fords and says he cuts old rot out and the finish is almost like it wasn't there other then paint finishing thing is he wants approx Ł600 and I need a garage as his liability won't allow him to work outside and I don't have a garage :-( other welders just wanted to plate over the rot for 200-400 quid

Lifted the sound deadening up and saw it had had a repair on that side too, but again needed more and I prodded again

Just keep on with it dude. At least when its done, you know the car inside out etc, and all the rot will be gone. Better finding it and solving it than not knowing its there. Seen a few old fords that looked mint, and ended up on a scrap pile. Seen a lot worse than that.

Not done much recently but went out the other day and spent half an hour messing about with the grinder.

O/s front floor to sill seam.....

O/s front floor pan, where the big patch was. I didnt like the look of it just dumped on top so removed it, if Im getting its welding done I want previous welding to be done right too.

Hopefully I can get its welding sorted before the winter hits us so I can at least set about minting the interior back up and refitting it all.

Keep it up mate and when ur done u can do mine lol just out of cruriosity what's the chances of our old saphs that have been welded done mega miles etc been worth anything in years to come as surely in say 10+ years all saph's will have been welded etc so will this mean they are all worthless or will they just start creeping up in value
