All it would have takes is a couple of hours research on the net to make sure you have all the right bits even before you started. Then when you had everything together it would have been a simple swap over job. Just looks like you've rushed into it giving yourself a major headache when it could have been a simple job.

get the engine put in,source the parts you need for the conversion xr2 brake bar, servo etc.And the right engine mount because you will not get the Ł500 back for the cvh so sell that van and source the parts you need and get it built.

Nope cvh is now on ebay, im not putting even more money in for the rare parts that are needed. Plus i need the car everyday so id rather just have an engine thats working and on the road. its ok as it is and its not the slowest thing on the road so stick with it for now.

Sorry pal but it sounds to me like you have chucked your teddy out the pram, you have the engine so use it, if you cant sort small problems like this out then you really need to move away from any sort of modified/performance ford untill money will allow as this is a small issue compared to some you will get. Its an expensive and frustating game to be in, there is no point starting a job knowing the funds are not there to finish it when a problem shows up, even more so it you need to car for a daily drive. Just my view mate,

ah man, well least u got the balls 2 admit defeat, an gone back 2 the ohv lump, ive known of so many projects that gets started then left with half an engine , imho i think you shoulda researched the mods 1st b4 jumping in the deep end, but we live and learn. i really dont think you should sell the engine, get the van done and out it and use the time 2 find out what you need 4 the job b4 pputting it all back in, instead of stressing and getting urself worked up with defeat get it back on the road put the cvh in the shed and aim at getting your van done an sold then get back in there,

An xr2 engine mount is not rare and you could get one pretty cheap.

Why rush the conversion. Find everything needed while not at work IE evenings etc. Then once you have everything book a couple of days of work as holiday then get stuck in. 2-3 days is enough holiday to take your time making sure everything goes to plan.
You always find problems that need solving when modding' nothing is plain sailing.

Gave up well to easy. People will lose respect for you over this.

biggest problem was the dizzy hitting the brake fluid bottle, its a very short dizzy as it is so no way round apart from xr2 brake bar, pedel, servo, master cylinder so just not worth it at the mo.
Plus spotted that the water pump is different i think, ive bought xr2 radiator and all hoses but remember this is an escort cvh so i believe something gonna be a miss here aswell.
Its my own fault for buying the engine in the first place, i bought it thinking all cvh's were the same as thats what i was told on here and the xrtwo size.

You need to think to yourself: 'Is this car, a car that means something to me that im going to keep for alongtime' If the answer is no then dont bother count your losses and save money for a better car. You dont want to spend ŁŁŁŁ on a car you gonna sell not long after as you'll only take a big hit.

ah man what a shame you are giving up! personaly i think you have spent way to much so far on this conversion but to give up instead of waiting till you have all the parts you need is a shame!

Looking at the pictures your engine was sitting wrong, get the correct rear mount and and you find that everything will be ok.

I paid Ł15 for my last xr2. Rotten as hell but darn sight cheaper than what you paid for just some cvh running gear.
Would of been easier to try and find a rotten cvh fiesta.

The engine he bought was mint and a bargain for everything he got.
Try buying a crap old cvh then add a recon into the cost along with the rest of the bits needed to fit it and you'll realise this

I was getting at the fact that he didn't get all the parts he needed. Not that he paid too much.

Dunno people only ever seem to do it to the rears with pots n older type wheels. i test fitted a 175 55 earlier and it look ok not much stretch though hardly noticed

its cos for that look, ie the euro look, the rear wheels kind of tend to be wider with a more obscene offset, so the tyres always sit with more stretch than the front. if u dont run staggered fitment alloys, and u stretch the rears but run standard balloon tyres up front, u wont look euro, u will look like a twat

just stick some 195 45 15s on, like a normal person would, they will look fine, and wont cost the earth either

Well guys looks like the dream is over, ducking crashed my car straight into the back of a spanking brand new passat. I'm here now waiting for the rac. Crashes hurt especially first thing on a morning. Shocking pics later, from what I can see atm at the side of a busy duel carridgeway is new bonnet, number, both headlights, front panel, both front wings, radiator hate to think of out else lurking under the bonnet.
Bummer is it even worth repairing??
