Default Fiesta Cosworth a few years later!

hi everybody i dont really post on here im usually on fiestaturbo.com but thought i would post on here aswell to get more peoples comments etc. so here goes

i had the car acid dipped at surface processing earlier in the year so i could see exactly what i was left with. the shell come back pretty good tbh but i have replaced both rear quarters front panel and front wings with all genuine panels, the shell has been fully seam welded. the bottom has been etch primed and body sealed and thats as far as i have got atm! although im building up a pile of bits and il let the pictures do the talking.

little spec, obp floor mounted pedal box, area six inlet and exhaust manifolds.. will also be doing all my head work aswell, tial external wastegate, gt35 dual roller turbo, pectel t2 managment, mk5 hubs, zetec s rear beam, wilwood 4 pots "may upgrade to 6 pots" focus rear hubs calipers etc, escort cosworth wheels.. list goes on but cant think right now!
any comments please post them up cheers.

im using the mk5 hubs as they use a much better/bigger roller bearing and not a taper bearing. same as the rears with the focus hubs. cheers.

i would suspect he didnt bother and that the car will drive 100% straight the heat from a small mig like that on a small part of a panel at a time when a cars already fully spot welded i'd be very suprised if it would distort anything important

as for the seam welding if i were to do it id use short 25-30mm bursts with a 25-30mm gap between to allow for cooling and demand on the machine you can see where the welders either no man enough or on the wrong power setting

however it will be fine on this im sure as its still an improvement over the standard shell

Was just saying ive built good few MK2 rally shells and id never do that much welding on a shell especially on enternal panels and never without bracing or cageing them first

using the zetec s rear beam as its wider than the rst one its stiffer and the focus rear hubs bolt straight to it so i can run the rear discs.

cheers for the comments people should have another update shortly

thanks mate would appreciate that, and it was suppost to be e-coated but as it was dipped by surface processing they said to me they no longer offer the full emersion e-coat! so i couldnt get it dip protected! so now im just doing my best to etch it and protect it. so really surface processing done me over but have to make the best of a bad situation!

there not as you have to use mk3.5 suspension, bottom balljoint has to be the mk5 one same with the track rod end but seen as these was all made to order none of this was a problem. cheers.

thats exactly what i was going to do mate. got the 1 liter tins of etch and gonna be pouring them down the rails etc get as much protection as i can! the welder iv got is big enough its a proper welder, all the welds have penertrated properly they just look a bit bulky in the photos, also the seam welding was done in short bursts to cool then gaps filled in. photos dont do it justice really you can appreciate it alot more in the flesh
cheers.

I'd like to do the same with mines but I'm not sure how much actual car I'd be left with. How much does an acid dip cost if you don't mind me asking?

few updates, i have mounted evo 8 hks camber and castor adjustable top mounts to the mk3 fiesta, also changed the bulkhead for a mk3.5 powersteering part as you can see. the front turrets have been custom made to accomodate the top mounts theres not finished yet but ul get the idea also just dropped the engine in to get its position. let me no what you think!
