My Focus ST Build Thread 352bhp 435Ib/ft - air filter ducting...
Since my car is now going to become a track car decided to do a build thread....
Well here is my newer car - had it since October but havent been on here for a while
It is a 2007 model Focus ST-2
So started with 220-225bhp and approx 230Ib/ft
Bought standard bar the 19" alloys (not my cup of tea);
Next step
Parts fitted; grey plastics sprayed black and xenon white sidelight & numberplate bulbs added
Next up was a 275bhp & 325Ib/ft upgrade along with some cosmetic tweaks;
Parts fitted; Dreamscience Mod C map, induction kit, eibach pro kit lowering springs, decat pipe
Next up new front mount intercooler;
Parts fitted; Airtec Gen 3 intercooler
Now new wheels & tyres
Parts fitted; Pro Race 1.2 & Yoko Parada Spec 2's
Some nice pics;
Also fitted a larger air filter onto the induction kit along with some RS spark plugs to cure a slight missfire
New brakes & sunstrip
Parts fitted; EBC turbo groove discs and yellowstuff pads
Taken to rolling road and it produced the grand total of 298bhp and 351Ib/ft
A piper 3" system was then bought with a downpipe - fitted the catback but downpipe is still in the garage
It was then taken to Croft for its first trackday to see where more improvements are required;
After the trackday the car was left to cool overnight then taken back to Croft for some performance timings;
Managed 0-60 in 5.7 seconds which was the fastest fwd car of the day
Parts required for next stage;
Bilstein coilovers
Whiteline front & rear arb's
Stripped interior
Rear FIA approved cage
Full slick tyres with another set of pro race 1.2
Remap
Oil cooler
Radtec radiator
Quaife ATB
RS clutch, flywheel and pressure plate
EBC yellowstuff rear pads and turbo groove discs
6 Pot front calipers with 360mm discs
Should then be around 330bhp and 400Ib/ft
Also got this unfinished in the garage;
Picture from when fitting the intercooler;
Will try and keep this updated

Well today fitted my Samco heater matrix hoses and cleaned down all the air filter & the MAF
Had an ESP System Fault as well but a simple battery off for 5 hours while I did the work;
Started the day looking like this;
Various pics from the jobs in process;
Samco hoses now;
Chaos in the engine bay
All fitted - engine bay getting cleaned tomorrow and bootlid getting wiper removed as it as usefull as a chocolate fire guard

Well on the rolling road my car made a few different power levels but I decided to accept the lowest power as seemed more accurate
Rolling Road Result
310bhp & 345Ib/ft
Mine struggled with traction even with 6.5mm tread on tyres so was quite entertaining
Shown below is some of my other results which were achieved but I settled on the lowest reading
BAD TIMES
Well on tuesday the bonnet decided it didnt like opening so commited suicide - had to break into it then replace all the bonnet lock mechanism
Wednesday and coming back from the rolling road the front undertray decided to come loose and break into what looked like 100 pieces all over the road
Then this morning a puncture in front tyre so replacing both front tyres with new Paradas ready for Ford Fair
Hopefully things will go good again
Rob
Vids to add soon

New bonnet has landed at last - not perfect as a pattern bonnet was used (my original bonnet is now going to get a new set of RS Turbo vents fitted complete with the original RS mounts)
Anyway pics of the temporary vented bonnet;
On another note - rear needs dropping about 10-15mm as looks abit uneven to me
Also got 2 new Parada tyres fitted and waiting for my new undertray after the other one decided to fly away

Well time for another little update....
It was bothering me being able to see the red bumper when the foglights were removed as air ducts so sorted some ducting that goes into the bumper.
I also painted the scuttle panel satin black as fed up with it going white/grey with polish/was on it

Forgot to add my FordFair section;
Went on track in the morning using my old Dreamscience Map then on the afternoon went on the 0-60 with a new remap - matched my PB of 5.7 to 60 very easily so once am used to the map I believe there will be some much better times in store.
Well just been sent these 5 pics through from various photographers so here they are;
Well only downside is that the brake fluid boiled and meant I missed my Dreamscience session
Vids of track and 0-60 can be found here;
http://www.youtube.com/user/robbie19.../1/4TZgTebp0dw
Next up is new rear brakes, upgraded lines and 5.1 fluid

Another little update;
Got this little piece of kit fitted - was skeptical at what a Ł60 mod would do but have to report it is amazing piece of kit - gearchanges are superb and car feels more 'together' when hooning it around
Anyway here it is;
On another update got a tow sticker on front bumper (a crap update but chucked it in )
More boring crap to do this week - oil & filter change
Tomorrow car is back on the rolling road so will have a new power graph to post up

Well today I attended the rolling road where I made 309.1bhp previously;
Today I (once again) made numerous power readings - the most accurate of the readings being run 1 on the below graph;
It also made less and more on the rollers - the suggested mods to make are - better oil. new air filter, new downpipe as still on standard dp.
Should be good once that is done
Rob

Well cheap mods were required as not payday yet
Seen as I was off I decided to take advantage of the sun and paint the calipers all round and add my ST decals to the front calipers;
Once payday is here my new dampers will be coming from HTEC Elite (Bilsteain B8's)
Also will have my new 5w50 Millers Motorsport oil to go in along with new oil filter and larger K&N cone filter

10K+ Poster!!
To be honest I'm not usually a fan of these but that's a lovely looking Focus, you've done a great job! Must go nicely with power and torque like that too!
