gearbox and clutch swop on a impreza

ok this is gonna have to be in stages,,,,,, mainly cause i aint finished it yet

pictures also might not mean anything but ill try to get better ones

first get some old ropey shed of a car ,,,,, heres one i found

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0735.jpg

i really hate them "temp" pins that have been on there over a year now

time to take em off

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08.../Photo0360.jpg

bit more like it

now open bonnet,,,,, and make a nice brew,,, look at the car and think " should i really bother with this "

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0856.jpg

now i need a gearbox and,,, well diff due to the ratios i wanna change to !!!

oh look there one is

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0844.jpg

lets take a look at see how bad the rust is on this old shed

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0868.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0867.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0866.jpg

well a car cant rust when its loosing THIS MUCH gearbox oil,,,,, guess the cat never pissed in my car after all pmsl

now is there enough room,,, in my "slightly smaller than a double garage"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08.../Photo0362.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08.../Photo0363.jpg

now, how to i take out the driveshafts,,,, always a pissy hate of mine,,,, oh look

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0870.jpg

what a cool idea ( take note ford) roll pins holding in the shafts,,, they will be PISS to remove

right,,,,, lets get started

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0869.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0909.jpg

ok ill add more pics,,, as i got carried away and just started unbolting stuff when i was under the car,, doh !!!!

clarke5700 01-05-2010 06:22 PM

clarke5700 01-05-2010 06:33 PM

tell me about it mine started knocking when i backed it out the garage  so i pushed it back in lol

i fitted a new engine and sold the car. a week later it caught fire

Ginge ! 01-05-2010 07:31 PM

my old one in 6 months of ownership done 5 engines,,,,, the last time i parked it up and then someone nicked it for its monaco leather trim and left it dumped down the road,,,,,, and stayed there till someone removed it

Ginge ! 01-05-2010 07:43 PM

took the wheel off,, yes i just took 1 wheel off as im a lazy tart

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0926.jpg

took out the balljoints,,,,,, AND FUCKED THEM UP WITH MY SPECIAL TOOL,,,,,,, that seems to fuck them more than the old way i done em,,, just does it quicker pmsl

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0927.jpg

the linkage was also seperate

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0916.jpg

its seperated,,, just i forgot to take something off pmsl

anyway here is how the car looks at the min

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0922.jpg
the magical floating car,,,, oh and there is ALOT LESS room than the photo seems to show,,,,, trust me on that pmsl

oh and remind me tomorrow to remove this aswell pmsl

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...o/SAM_0920.jpg

clarke5700 02-05-2010 07:09 PM

the reason why you are breaking the balljoint covers is because you are using the wrong tool  the one you are using is ment to be used when it dosent matter if they get damaged.
