I was worried about this, and thought the same thing of a few 4x4 and RWD conversions i've seen done, a roll cage can over come the issue, but i want it as a road car, hence the resaon i've rebuilt the rear end the way i have, rather than just weld turrets to the inner arch, i've linked the turrets, cross member and chassis rears together in the same way the Sierra is so they are all as strong if not stronger than due to being fully seam welded together.
I'm not saying what you've done is wrong, I was just trying to point out that the rear arches sit higher on an Escort than a Saff arch so the chassis needs to sit lower to look right. This reduces shock travel and increases neg camber.
I love what your doing and was't knocking it in anyway.

ignore the arch line as they have been cut away
the sierra floor inner arch is in fact actually sitting 30mm higher than the original escort floor

you bast**d....told you not to put that pic on!!!
I went up to boebs and he gave me a set of brackets for the rear seats and I went up to russels and he gave me another bracket cos the S2 ones have different holes on it, a set of rear seats for mocing up the interior and the parcel shelf supports!!! Top guys. couldnt believe it, neither of them would take any money!

Looks good fella
I know what i was trying to explain before now mate. I want my drive shafts to be angled downwards as a standard ride hight cossie would be, That way when the car squats the shafts will be horizontal rather than pointing upwards. As this can cause shaft failure (apparently). I actually forgot yours was 4x4, so yours will probably get less squat at the rear than mine. Another thing, i'm mocking mine up with a drum rear axle, not a cossie one at the moment so it may have a different camber setting on the actual axle than cossie arms.
Looking forward to seeing the next update.

Started mocking up the interior, talked to Alys trimmer and we have sorted out what we want to do with the boot and inside the interior round the seat. Tried the rear cossie seat as we were going to retrim the bottom of the cossie bench with the fabric from the escort. Obviously needed a bit trimmed on the ends so it was a bit of a squeeze….
Then we tried the rear bench from the escort and it went in without to much modification but the fronts are a different story. We had them in and I sat in my driving position but it was a bit too high, Johns going to sort out that but the wee man wanted to have a seat……

Thought I would let you see how I managed to get off the sprocket.
Went down to machine mart the other day and everything they had wouldn’t fit so I came home had a wee think about it and remembered the only thing that had a chance of fitting down the side was a wiper arm puller, no way near long enough but the widths on all the bits sorted worked. Went down yesterday and bought it, dropped it off at the workshop and they extended them to the size I wanted.
Took it home and got on the grinder to shave all the bits down so they would fit.
Stuck it on and POP it moved, once it started moving it was easy enough to pull off, just the initial bit was a bitch.
A little bit rusty!!
Well happy, thought I was going to have a nightmare getting it off!

Well decided it was high time to get on with some of the build, Firstly the new oil pump was fitted;
Old;
New;
Fitted all the front crank seals, plate, sump and rocker cover.
Cleaned up the dizzy;
Started on the Inlet manifold;
Stripped it, cleaned, rubbed down and masked up. Then put on gas mark 5 !! haha
Tested my crackle paint skills on the bottom of the manifold
Dismantled the loom from the fuel rail and cleaned it.
Once I had done the top side of the inlet manifold/Swedish plenum I fitted it
Then got my nice clean injectors/fuel rail back on.
Tomorrow the other side!
