Fiesta Mk4 Rebuild
Some of you may have seen this car replace my previous ITB's Mk5 Zetec-S.
Long storey short, it was good fun but developed a lot of problems. So after spending a small bit of money on it, I decided to stop and rebuild it.
Sold all the FRP bits off it (making most of my money back from when I bought it) and began stripping it.
This is where I stand at the moment.
Still have a bit of work to do over the next few weeks before it goes to get a Custom Cage wleded in, along with some other work. But its looking OK for now, I expected far more rust.
The aim of this is to make it better than new. Everything will be coming off it and getting a make over. The car will most likely be treated to a respray and lots of new parts, and should be fit for track use once finished.
Will update as and when.

Yeah, I should probably mention some of the mods Im wanting to do lol.
Engine wise - 2.0 Duratec on ShawSpeed cams, Jenvey ITB's and either Omex or GEM's. Few other trick bits to hold its reliability around the track but thats the general jist of it.
Chassis has seen newly refurbed GAZ fully adjustable coilovers. I've got some FRS Brembo's to go on along with a 2.0 focus rear disc conversion, and already have adjustable wishbones. Looking into some eccentric top mounts too. Wheels will be Comps.
Interior is getting a Multipoint Custom Cages UK cage (going up on the 20th March to get done) with some added areas. All painted, flocked dash, Sparco Pro 2000's etc.
Exterior will see a respray with a different colour and some carbon fibre bits to bring the CoG and weight down.
Thats the general outline of what I plan to do.

Thanks. It should hold its own.
This is the cage thats going in. Fiesta Multipoint cage, CDS tubing, TIG welded in with a coded welder. Possibly getting a few extra bits welded in too.
These are the brakes that are going on. Fiat Coupe Brembos (will match up to FRS 325mm discs)
I've also bought a new fromt cross member, so I'll work on making a removable front end. Will make working on the car far easier!
This week will see windows, sound deadening and fuel tank out. Then its 2 weeks till it goes for its cage

Quick update
New bolts came through today, along with top mounts and track rod ends.
Also got some scotch brite to start rubbing stuff down. And my new front cross member came through (to fab up a removable front end)
All sound deadening was taken off, two rear windows taken out, fuel tank came off (was still half full lol!) and all fuel lines and brake lines removed. Thanks to Jamie and Mark for the help.
More pictures when I get some!

Quick update
Wheel bearings came through this week. All hubs off and away to the garage to get fitted. Will be back on Friday.
This hub literally fell out the assembly with a slight tug.
New suspension top nuts came through (massive thanks to Gaz Suspension) so all shocks are firmly secured to the chassis.
Rear brake discs came through (budget discs and mintex pads) so the wheels sit firmly on the hub.
Windscreen was taken out.
Fuel was spilled all over the drive while trying to fill up my mums car from my half full tank of petrol.
Caliper brackets arrived
Crossmember support is in the post.
Electric and heated mirrors bought and delivered.
about it for now.

More from today.
New wheel bearings fitted in all hubs. Everything bolted back onto the assembly and Wheels put on.
One the floor.
and steering column back in.
You might be able to see the windscreen out in that picture.
Ready to go up to ShawSpeed to get the cage done. Just need to clean it out. I have a poo load of parts ready to be fitted, and I've been enquiring about some powder coating being done.

Brackets need making up. MDA MotorSport make some cast ones so I bought those.
Once you have the brackets, the hub needs to be drilled to 12mm and the caliper needs to have a "notch" put in it so it doesnt collide with the hub. The discs might need spacing out.
Bobs your uncle really. Nothing too hard. If you arent making up your own lines, you need custom lines as the fittings are different.

Its a "Snoopy Kit". From eBay. About £150 for the kit. the rear bumper is a Zetec-S bumper though.
I ordered one for my last Mk4 and i wrote the car off the day the kit turned up. I was well gutted lol. Atleast now I have a Mk4 with the kit lol.

You'll need to run 17's to fit those disks on won't you? They are quite tight under the RS 18" wheels. Wll look great anyway. I was hoping to fit them using 300mm disks.

Wheels are a custom shade of Anthracite. They changed colour ever so slightly depending on the light. So quite Special.
The suspension there was down -40mm on Gmax Dampers and Spax Springs. Wheels are 15" GTi wheels. The arches have been rolled but not essential.
On other news. An engine has been bought

I was amazed to find this outside my door this morning.
Engine was only posted yesterday (from Scotland!) so Im very happy.
I thought I was only getting the bare engine with a few ancillaries. I told the guy to throw in anything he didnt need and could afford to give away for free.
So I was surprised to find a full loom with ECU, alternator and exhaust manifold, coilpack and leads etc.
the only thing it is missing is a gearbox.
Not bad for £450
