Right as some of you might no iv had a very very BIG problem with this build as we put a block and gear box under the shell and it didnt fit so i had to make my mind up wot to do well this was the out come .

One min we had this

Name: 456.jpg
Views: 349
Size: 98.1 KB

Then we had this

Name: 602-1.jpg
Views: 368
Size: 96.4 KB

Name: 603-1.jpg
Views: 365
Size: 124.4 KB

as you can see it all had to come out to sort which im NOT happy about well then it went back in

Name: 604.jpg
Views: 346
Size: 120.7 KB

And we now have some space around the front of the bell housing which was the problem

Name: 606.jpg
Views: 327
Size: 62.7 KB

Name: 607.jpg
Views: 368
Size: 88.8 KB

So all good now but iv now got a nuver problem as you can see the gear box is now of to the one side

Name: 605.jpg
Views: 363
Size: 108.6 KB

the only thing i can think it is that is causesing this is the gear box cradle i can mod it but it just seams to be one thing after a nuther . and befor any one says the tunnel must be out trust me its in the center of the shell .

Bit of head scratching with this one then, thats the joys of having a jig with all mount positions set, must be a reason for the box to be offset i would imagine, u'll get there yet.

Personally i wouldnt have tackled such a job without some sort of reference point jig. Hope all goes anyhow with the build.

ill get you a pic tomorrow of my gear stick to show where it sits in the hole to give you an indication

but have you had the gearbox cross member off? as if its on th ewrong way round it moves the centre of the gearbox out of alignment

ill sort that pic out, but the gearstick should be centre, it looks too far back but then it may not be in neutral lol, other than that it should bolt up straight

if your convinced the tunnel is straight then the only reason for that box to be off like that is the engine is off alignment aswell

the motor is spot on and allso it would have to be a long way out to do this as the gear box bolts to the tunnel right underneath the gear stick

bad luck with the floor having to come out
Have you got the rear end in and lined that up yet?
you gonna mock it all up before you weld it all up again?

the truth is i dont no its as if the gear box cradle is rong in some way and it will only fit one way round so i redrilled the cradle to soot and all is now good . as you can see we have put string line from roll over jig to roll over jig and its all spot on now so it will have to do

coley I put engine and box in mine today and there does'nt seem to be a gear box mount all there is under the floor is a strenthening weldment with long elongated holes with no threads. is this normal?
ive made a rollover jig today and got the car up on it so it'll be belly side up soon and smoking from all the welding
Id forgot how much i enjoyed modifying cars
