Got my suspension back today after full rebuild
Full strip down
Front bodies blasted and re coated
New seals
1 new piston rod
Oil change
Nitrogen canisters re charged
New springs
New spring seat adjuster
All re fitted and ride height re set with a little more rake than before , will be going in for corner weighting and next week once I have the rest of the parts for adjustable rear toe arms.
Initial impressions are the car is a lot more road compliant and less crash than before, still have to try a few compression/rebound settings as just went for mid point justnow.

Wouldnt it have been cheaper to buy hayabusa ? 0-187mph in 19 secs std . Even quicker if fettled with, mine did it in 13seconds. And probably cheaper to buy than your shocks lol

One of the reasons why I don't have a bike, love them and what they can do but i'd either have an accident thats my fault or some dozy twat would run into me, just not worth the risk with the state of some people's driving now, its risky at times when i'm in the car. People just get distracted too easily.

As replacements go, that's a pretty cool one!

I want to hopefully take it on track later this year , so have ordered a baffled sump and a few other little pieces.
One thing that looks to be a weak point on these cars is the gearbox , this car already had upgraded 3rd ,4th gears but the boxes tend to run hot. I plan to make up a oil cooler kit probably using a mocal pump and 13 row cooler fed from a naca duct in the flat floor.
Im also in two minds about wheels, Im thinking of putting the 1.2's light anthracite , also looking at another set of wheels to use on the road with a more suitable tyre than the o48's.
Anyone handy with photoshop fancy doing a wheel colour swap and also a wheel swap to these in bronze.

Did the Exige come from Bell and Colville? My friend test drove one of these recently with a friend of his who has a big collection and he only did not buy it due to the gearbox issues on track. I wonder if it would work with shock proof gear oil as well as the cooler?

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
Looks lovely Neil.
Sorry to hear about the Porker mate, been there.
Sold my 911 GT3 for 36k before the values went daft due to marital issues as I needed to free up cash.

The weak point in the boxes seems to be 3rd and 4 th gears stripping , which has been replaced with uprated gears on this car. The boxes tend to run hot that then causes expansion of the alloy housing, this is only meant to be under hard track use but for the sake of a few hundred pounds to fit a cooler i think its a worth while mod.

Nope it came from a small dealer that normally trades in older mustangs and air-cooled porsches.

I have driven a standard exige on track and I was amazed at what it could do.
Probably the best steering feel of any car I have ever driven

Wow that porker was something else! Have to admit the green eyed monster was sitting on my shoulder reading the progress. Keep on looking at making the shift the other way plastic fantastic ->porker
Exige is lovey, don't see the GT3 clams on a road car often! Looks to bethe same/similar colour to mine, motorsport green?
Green with gold wheels is a winner though!

If you get the chance to I would say go for it , the only thing is you have missed the Porsche price hike. They really are a special car and do everything well.
Like the green /gold look , the wheels Ive ordered are slightly more bronze than gold. Your car must be fairly rare in the Lotus green don't think Ive ever seen an exige in that colour.

Few parts started to arrive for the car , and had a bit of time now I'm home from work to start going through the car .
Looks to have a lot of nice parts but also a few bodges so will take a little bit more work than I thought.
I have got some oil temp and pressure gauges , may use the temp one for the gearbox to start with to get an idea of how hot the box actually gets.
Unfortunately due to a mix up at the dvla the V5 got lost , so have now had to re apply, this has also meant i can't road tax the car
Did get my road wheels mounted up and adjusted the ride height up as it was set at 105 front /115 rear when loaded with 75kg in each seat.

Great looking car that. I bet it'll embarrass a few big money cars on track. Agreed the wheels transform the looks, so much nicer than 1.2's

So today the car came to bits, and is now in the rebuild stage complete with now having a boot/storage space .
Looks good with the roof off.
Rear spoiler, roof and rear clam removed
Rear storage box , front is covered in a double layer of heat barrier with around 2" of clearance from the manifold. Still have access to the battery and have air flow either side to allow heat to escape through the rear vents.

Oil cooler is now fitted in the nearside rear , I will monitor temps and if needed vent the arch liner to increase flow.
Gauges now fitted and wired
Ive also added extra bracing to the front splitter as it was flexing above 80mph and actually hitting the road, I also had to modify a front tow post to work with the gt3 clam.
Ive still to make two little trim pieces for the side of the boot box, but atlas now have somewhere to put stuff if going for a run or to a track day.
Also tracked down an under tray so will get that fitted at the end of the week , also got a digital temp gauge to fit to the gearbox to see how hot its getting before I decide if I'm going to fit a cooler and pump.
Another big thanks to wheelcoat for the 2 day turn around on my wheels even though I said no rush lol

I had a really nicely modified S2 elise. Fantastic car.
The Exige / Elise platform is one of the best out there for a drivers car imo.
Yours looks great but surely not a patch in performance terms against your 911.
Would love a V6 exige, the latest 380 sport is a sweet motor. Good luck with yours.
