Tonights efforts
Wing beading 25 feet of it
new horn grills and 57degree aerial and pint of broad side from pizza oven.
~Went and bought a load of zinc plated bolts. Ł100 quids worth but should last a while
Headlights need rechroming but couldnt resist putting them on to get a feel for it.
Im off for another pint. this stuff is quite potant as well

No, sadly its a customers.
Pretty simple. Mr Porsche designed it in about 1930, apart from a few mods to up the bhp and thicken/strenghten over the years the design remains the same.
Well I say simple, but they do require supprisingly precise tollarences, and are very sensitive to heat/fuel and vacum, so need to be build and set up correctly.
If it put it this way I was less worried about rebuilding the Aston martin engine than my first VW engine!!

Driving them does not really appeal. It ammount of time/money I spend is no different to guys going out drinking down the pub, playing golf or football etc etc. Im not very sociable, so enjoy locking my self in the workshop and cracking on with things. would rather do that than a night out in town anyway!!
Check out Fast Ford hopefully next month (or maybe the following one) My 16i has just had a feature done on it, and also incorporating all my other projects I have on the go at the mo. Should be a good read.

Sorry ive been slow on the progress, have been away for over a week or so and am flat out with business commitments.
Begun stripping the engine down
This is a K- manifold (upside down in this pic).
The larger tube connects a centeral carberator to a set of twin ports one each side of the engine as its a flat 4.
The smaller tube is an exhaust ballance breather bar, and joins the 2 exhausts together to create equal back pressure in both systems. The one I had on mine had a snapped end on one of the fixings. So this is one of my mates spares off of his van.
He took it off of his because the engine was running rough due to the ballabce bar being blocked solid with carbon and sludge.
But ive come up with a plan
One end of the tube
Some strands of welding wire
Mole grips and twist (make sure to go clockwise)
Heat cure to remove the spring tension
here we have a pipe cleaner.
Slid it in to the tube, drill on full speed with a bit of thinners in the hole and it span right through to the other side

The 3door cossie is gone now so the 67 is back in business
Headlining next
some of this for the sound deadening
remove old ribs for old headliner and fit to new one
Fit door pillar trim, this is the back side of it.
Aiim to have headlining complete and windoes back in buy weekend. Then its on to the engine rebuild

Get the front edge in.
These kits are a bit lame these days, its litterally a sheet of headlining, you have to cut everything and add the old cardboard rolling strips from the old lining. Its definatly not a job for anyone with out patience!
Using contact adhesive stretch the lining back and stick it to the rear window lip. The originals used to clip above the rear window but its simply not possible with this lining.
Run a knife on the outer edg of the lip
Finish off the door pillars and attach the sides, sounds easy
Black nylon plastic does not photograph too well with a flash but you get the idea.
Now once the windows are back in its time to BAKE OUT THE CAR.
No not what your thinking, tho baking out my first beetle at 17 was a regular occourance
Basically you need to get it really toasty with a heater, this makes the nylon shrink and removes and creases and small wrinkles which could not be pulled out in the fitting.
