It is fun, not the fastest car about but fast enough for me to enjoy
Hi mate,
I switch to Pagid RS29 on the fronts and AP Racing Ap404 on the rears,
Yeah there is so much not being used its a waste and most of it helps look after your engine so you don't have to worry and can concentrate on the driving so it's made not to use them features
It's already too much for a road car and I will never fully enjoy until I have my own trailer or truck to take it wherever I want whenever I want and now I'm doing more fabrication work I want to save for that next
Also after speaking to a few people I may stick with the 7.25" twin plate but switch to a TTV Racing high inertia 11kg Rallycross spec flywheel

You really have gone OTT, but its all good, big part of the enjoyment for me is in the build and development.

Why do you think there is a difference on this car? Do you think it is the choice of master and slave in the hydraulics? Maybe experimenting there would work although as he has a tilton centre push Iirc then he only has master to swap

Marc, I know I have seen every page of this awesome thread but cannot remember if you have a bladed anti roll bar on the back, if you have do you know the rough page so I can see how you have done it. I want to put the Mk one on the back of mine buyt not sure how it will work with the 205 shell

Adaptive knock control was a build time option on my life racing F88RX ecu and can not be retro fitted unfortunately so I'm looking to sell my ecu loom and complete map as a package and buy a new ecu with the knock control feature that is the only reason as my ecu can do everything else except that

Will be taking the car to FordFair again this year so thought I bet get a few things sorted on it
Bonnet painted today, should re fit tomorrow hopefully
Also ordered the new heavy weight 11kg flywheel, will be close if it's fitted before FordFair as only 4 weeks to go and they said 3 or 4 weeks to make, here's a website pic of how it will be
Also Hoping to get brake cooling ducts on before FordFair fingers crossed

That's there stock website photo for 11kg Yb high inertia rallycross flywheel so will be interested to see the finished machine item compared to a standard cast iron 11kg item
Also they went stated it makes a big difference as to where the weight is distributed so time will tell and soon as I have the actual item il post pics

Well not much done on the car lately as been busy concentrating on my fabricating empire lol
Anyway, the new high inertia ttv flywheel was done today but I did not get a chance to collect from my man who got it sorted for me so maybe collect that tomorrow but decided I'm not gonna rush and fit it before ford fair in case I have any hassle and it makes me miss the show, I also would of swapped the gearbox as its crunching in all gears now but I'm not bothered and il give it some final abuse on track at ford fair which will probably finish it off
The other reason I'm happy to suffer the lightweight flywheel is i finally bit the bullet and took my B+E trailer test
Passed first time thank god as the course was expensive at Ł700 but to be honest if you passed after 1997 you have to have it if your towing any kind of weight so now I'm all legal there so went on the hunt for a nice workhorse and tow vehicle and came home with this today
Well happy,
2.5tdi and can pull 2.8tons and carry 1 ton of weight in the back as well so plenty for tools/wheels/fuel etc for track days
So for the first time since I've had the car I can now take it wherever I like whenever I like on my own without having to ask a friend to be around to tow it for me, all I need is to hire a trailer which is Ł45 per day and hopefully maybe even before the years out il have my own one of them too
But had no time so cars not been out since Snetterton last November other than 1 day I done 30 miles lol it's still filthy so will see if I get time to clean it and tidy her up a bit but busy fabricating a full cage in a mk4 escort just now so no time for my own stuff
See you at ford fair

Update post Ford Fair
Had a great time at Ford Fair this year, first time taking the car myself on the trailer in the new truck and it was awesome towed lovely and the trailer i hired was great
Overall on track was good, 1 issue at the end of the first session was the car cut out just as i was coming round Brooklands which i think was fuel starvation as everything else was good and i realised i had left 1 of the breakers tripped for the second fuel pump, this normally wouldn't be an issue but 1 of my pumps takes an outlet from 1 side of my tanks sump and 1 pump takes an outlet from the other side so this is all i can think was wrong!
Anyway i re set the breaker for the second session and the car was fine and didn't miss a beat so all is hopefully well but i will pull the logging from the ecu with Will Pedley and go through it just to double check everything.
The car was going good still at only 1.4bar, same tyres that have now done last years Ford Fair, brands PF trackday, Snetterton and this years Ford Fair, they are ok but not brilliant the car would be a different story with slicks
This year being a bit braver with the car i was pushing it harder to see how or when it would break away at the back and in the video i post later you will see me snatching the wheel around the corner trying to see when it would step out but it was a little unpredictable and although it felt loose it also had the tendency to understeer first but caught me off guard still on the first occasion
I am still not 100% sure whether i like the skyline box set up and i really need to get it stripped and inspected to see what the centre clutch plates are like condition wise and get a pressure gauge on the pump to see what pressure i am getting to see what sort of lock i am getting as to be honest the car felt better planted when i had the knackered second hand standard cossie box but that could well be down to the worn skyline box that is in their currently.
In general i need plenty more time in the car and more time setting up and getting used to the gearbox diff controller settings but 20 mins at ford fair is not enough and at snetterton i was cut short due to leaving the bonnet open and smashing the screen
Also i need to spend time setting up the brake bias as the brakes are good but think i could go forward a bit more on the bias and i have some performance friction 665 fluid here to change to rather than the super blue i am currently using
The post Silverstone checks today revealed a few issues that need sorting before the car is used in anger again
1st issue found will be the cause of the slight vibration felt this time round but it was by no means enough for me to be concerned something was loose and the car didn't feel any different so i am lucky these bolts did not come right out as that could of been a pretty bad outcome!
The 2 loose bolts holding the propshaft center bearing! now these were tight before Silverstone so have come undone but this is the first time this has happened, 1 was just loose but 1 was all the way out so these will be drilled and lock wired
2nd issue was again a loose bolt which has come loose before, the bolt holds the nose of the diff and is located inside the end of the tubing i am pointing to in the picture, the same on the other side
the bolt on the opposite side has come out and gone!!!
when this happened i do not know but on track Sunday at some point but luckily causing nobody else any damage or grief
Now these have come loose before but can't be lock wired due to where they are so now i will drill the tube just in front of the bolt head when tightened and either put an R-clip trough to stop them coming out or put a long M3 bolt and nyloc to stop them coming out completely although this will not stop them loosening i will now re fit them with a bit of medium strength thread lock that should do the trick
Next up i found a slight oil leaking coming from the sump cross shaft cover
Not sure why this started dripping as it's sealed nicely but it was only a slight leak of half a dozen drips on the trailer by the time i got home but i do hate leaks lol so needs re sealing
hopefully these are all issues i can address and not have to deal with again

I wonder if the bolts came loose and caused a vibration or if a vibration made them loose?
I looked out for you to come and say hello but didn't see you.

Hi Mark where did you have your prop made / balanced ? because I had a prop done by a company in barnhurst which was out of balance they said it wasn't so took it to a place in Luton they balance it problem sorted , just a thought Mark , for bolts to come loose you must have something running out of true !

Good to hear you got the car out and it's going well.
Can't say I have had any issues with bolts coming loose but I'd either use threadlock where necessary or nordlock washers. My first experience with those was when a guy I met who used them snapped his alternator support bracket in half and the washers on the lower bracket still kept the alternator perfectly tensioned ! I was sold on them after that
How did you find the pads ?
