Looking good as always Marc. I know all too well that welding on the edges like that is hard. Fair play!

Hopefully that's the last of the alternator wiring issues, but just in case I have the spare loom to carry as a back up

Just for the record, I think that's cheap. I'm not sure I would TIG one up for that! Must take some time to make.

It was too cheap mate,

I have made a couple now and for a single side exit group a style is about Ł250

Not really done anything to the car lately as been busy with other people's work and welding stuff etc

But changed the pads all round as I didn't get on with the ds3000 pads so have gone over to Pagid RS29 on the fronts and APF404 on the rears and will also be changing fluid from super racing blue to Performance Friction 665 fluid so hopefully that will be a big improvement, just need to take it out and bed them in

Then hopefully next month time permitting I will go and get the boost fully mapped in the fiesta as well and get some proper power figures in car on the hub dyno

Are you still going to get your Skyline box rebuilt or do you plan to just buy a replacement? If you go for rebuild will you go for OS Gicken standard or close ratio?

I was speaking to the geezer at gtbitz who do lots of skyline stuff and he said the R34 box can take 1000bhp and is 6 speed, I believe. He seems to think it is thinner than the R33 box and therefore would fit the tunnel and thought he had rebuilt the internals to fit an R33 before. The boxes go for big money though.

Hi mate, i wont be going for any os giken upgrade or anything anytime soon, to start i will probably buy another good second hand R33 box and run that then i have 1 sitting about to get rebuilt whilst i still have 1 in the car

There is a fella on ebay selling full R33 box rebuild kits for Ł450, thats all bearings and syncros etc, but this kit does not fit the earlier r32 boxes as syncros and a few other things were different

OS giken kits seem very good but again they come in about 4k all built up so not cheap, the kits do not come with syncros etc and can be hard to come by especially if you have an r32 box

Hard to say, I love the active centre diff and 2wd option. It is just so adjustable but the option of 5 or 6 speed fit and forget oppliger is tempting....if he will even answer an email. I have messaged him so many times, face booked him, emailed him etc....you have to build that in with no reply. Best to buy via Bara imo.

Hi all,

I notice no one mentions these gearboxes.

Is it just a cost issue and do any of you run one?

I spoke to Bara about the quaife, he said that they are expensive but when they need bits they are REALLY expensive, almost as if they sell you the box cheaper and then screw you if you need to rebuild it,

Not heard about the second gear issue, good to know.

Took the car out for a drive yesterday to a piston heads breakfast meet for a few hours not far from me, maybe a 40mile round trip, I wanted to do a nice drive to bed in discs and pads

Car received a lot of praise as usual

Only thing that puts me off road driving is the clutch as its horrible in any traffic so I'm looking for another clutch set up so I have the choice of either set up so I am after the flowing parts if anyone has them for sale

Cosworth AP updated clutch cover

Standard cosworth 4x4 flywheel

Let me know

Thanks

I have sorted a clutch cover and even a skyline paddle clutch disc thanks to Toby (Caddyshack)

So just after a standard flywheel to suit a standard single plate clutch

Thanks

Looks fantastic in the pics, hope to see it for real some day!

I will no doubt be reading lots of praise for this on pistonheads later.

The Cossie Escos I watched being mapped by Mark Shead on Saturday made a crazy 700.8bhp and around 600 torques....your car sooo needs that!

To be fair although that power is awesome my box and diffs would struggle,

I want a reliable 550bhp that can be used without worrying too much about box and diffs

Yes, totally agree really. 550 is more than enough in our weight of cars. Just make them handle and make the reliable is all you need.
