Great work mark as always , love watching the videos and hope you get some more up . I would personally not use the ducts as its alright trying to get the cold air in but with nowhere to escape . I also think it looked great . I would keep it as it was with x2 ducts from front bumper forcing air in to the engine bay and the vents being used for allowing hot air out , that's always been the best way
Keep up the great work

I'm undecided Paul so gonna leave the bonnet for a bit and mull it over although getting air out the bay is no problem as I do not run a scuttle panel so plenty of room for air to escape

After the last 2 track days it has become apparent that having the exhaust finish under the car is all well and good if you like a filthy car

Don't get me wrong, I am no bufty but the state of the back end and especially rear wheels from the exhaust is a joke so I want to add side exit tailpipes but subtle ones

So decided for letterbox style side exit on each side and these will be joined with V-band flanges mainly so they can be removed to aid clearance when loading the car onto the recovery truck and secondly if I change my mind and do not like them I don't have to touch the main exhaust,

So I have mocked up 1 side tonight and think it looks good, I will make it sit a bit close up to the sill but need to cut the sill/floor lip join still for extra clearance of about 20mm but I think it will make a difference

So here's the mock up, not cut to size yet just tacked the whole square for mock up pics

25mm high x 250mm wide

And mocked in place with some wood

That letterbox tailpipe looks awesome. I guess you made it? I looked far and wide for one for mine but couldn't find one so had to settle for this.

Looks great, Marc. I wonder if it will still make the wheel black though? My Cossie rear pipe makes a bit of a mess of the back of mine. I think the YB is a pretty messy beast.

It will be interesting to see if the noise changes much.

I see you made up the nice foot trays for the foot wells, would you make these for anyone else?

Going to flat the ends then add a straight piece directed in with the v-band flange on it will make more sense when done

Never been a fan of side exit pipes my self as they can look horrible like they just don't belong. But yours being long and thin like that looks right and suits the car

Hi Marc,

What bolts have you used to bolt the discs to the hub part? I'm suspect that mine aren't right.

You mean the 12 small disc to bell bolts or the hubcentric space studs and nuts mate

Perfect thanks Marc, I think I have nyloc nuts on the back of mine which makes me doubt the bolts. Can't be sure so I'm hoping I am wrong! Thanks again.

On another note those side exit pipes really suit. Nice work!

Strongly recommend changing the nylocs if that's what you have! The proper AP bolts are only about Ł25

Bit more done on the side exits

I want to get them mounted to the car in the exact position I want before making the connecting pipes as once tacked on the car things have a tendency to move about when you fully weld them up

So for the reason above and to also make sure there is no rattling against the sills I decided to weld wing mounts on to each side exit and fit them with bobbins

Then for mounting the bobbins to the chassis and also acting as spacers so the exhaust sit nice and level I machined up some bosses which have been machined different lengths to account for a step in the sill

Drilled holes in the sills and I will weld the bosses in tomorrow

Anyway some pics of everything so you get the idea

I will solid mount them while I work out the angle for the pipe to join them to the rest of the exhaust with v bands then once that is done I will fit the rubber bobbins keeping a nice amount of flexibility in the whole system to stop any stress and cracking
