PassionFord Post Whore!!
Wish I hadn't asked now lol.
I know mine needs a proper iva but I'm friendly with my not tester lol.
And as I hardly use the car and it looks std from the outside I will take my chances lol.

No mate
On closer inspection it seems it's only the 2 rear outer link arm rose joints that have the play? Funny it's the same 1 on both sides
It won't affect set up as long as I measure link bar before replacing rose joint and get it the same with the new 1
They are tight to get in the metal chassis bracket so maybe they were knocked in with a mallet causing the play? But I am in no way saying MDV are to blame as I know I've knocked them in with a rubber mallet too but never noticed it before but I will phone Them tomorrow to see if they have any in stock anyway

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Are you booked in for tomorrow?
Good luck mate.
Do you need to run it in and are you on full power?
Or are you going to ease yourself in gently? Lol

Rose joint issue sorted seems the play was more in the misalignment spacers I had changed to over what AG supplied,
I have fitted metric rather than UNF which meant they were ever so slightly loose in the bearing but there is still a minute but of play in the bearing but it's to be expected on cheaper items I suppose as they were around Ł10 each compared to top of the range Ł100 each items
Anyway yes have booked in for tomorrow afternoon now that's sorted
Have to spent a week poodling round with no boost until Tommy Field is back from Barbados rally then I will run at 1.5 bar max for now

Car now has an mot
Took it down today in the pissing rain, had to rain today of all days
Anyway, had to cheat using the laptop for now for the emissions until i get it set up in the car and get the closed loop working etc, used the life cal software and run mode fueling / global multiplier to take fuel out across the board to get the emissions down which worked fine then re set afterwards
They did notice the slight play in the rose joints on the rear lateral links but had a close look and agreed it was play/tolerance rather than worn out and knackered, other than low headlights that was that and it passed
but also when i got there i noticed a new but quite big bloody oil leak from the crappy half moon cam seals that i re done after machining the cam cover for the yaris coils
I had noticed oil before but not a lot and hadn't worked out where it came from, obviously under slight load driving made a big difference and made it a lot worse
people did warn me that they are tricky to do and seems they were right
Also the 7.25" twin plate clutch is a whole new experience
Think i stalled it about a million times in 2 miles and wore the starter motor out nearly lol, it is either on or off, definitely not a daily road car, and the clutch plates sound like a bag of bolts and so does the gearbox but that was an untested item so im just glad it drove and stayed in 1 peace other than the oil leak
After not driving a fully rose jointed track/race type car in over 6 years i can safely say its horrible but i love it
Car is running rough and lumpy and spluttery so not useable for now but has had the same plugs untouched that i have started the car with dozens of times now but never driven etc and there probably fouled up so i wont be using the car until i can get it all checked over & set up properly in about 2 weeks time when tommy is back from Barbados rally
So it is currently back up in the air so i can re do the cam seals next week and hopefully get them right this time and stop the leaking
No pictures of the car out on the road etc as it was pissing down and i hadn't done the arch liners yet so car is filthy so i literally went straight there and back again
But milestone has been reached and the car is now taxed and mot'd, roll on a couple of weeks time getting it set up

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Nice mate! You'll get used to the clutch! Had the same feelings when first experienced my twin plate heavy duty plate in a mk1 escort. Now i've used it as a daily before.

Picked up a few bits this week also ready for the next future update
Also got Cosworth spare cosworth front and rear props coming next week, and 2 more clutch plates for the AP 7.25" twin plate that will be sent off to be re splined to suit the skyline input shaft
Plan is to have everything ready and waiting to do the skyline r32/r33 gearbox conversion without having to take the fiesta off the road first
Then when I'm ready and want to do it its all there ready to fit , modify tunnel to suit as my tunnel is not big enough now, and just get props the right length, weld and balance, then re make exhaust around gearbox where needed
Won't be for a fair while yet but that is what is going to happen
