The bladed roll bars dewitts sell are from the original manufacturer who made them for fords, these are the kits that touring car spares sell as dewitts won't normally sell direct,

you are better off using the WRC items, much better in bearing design, and alot cheaper to buy bearings for.

dewitts do the bare hubs for about Ł450 + vat i think i paid.

Power wise I'm going for around the 450bhp mark and asnfor box and diffs I get the best I can afford which will most
likely be quaife thick wall with Titan front and 7.5" with Titan rear,
box wise I'm not sure but hopefully either bara or doughty box,
your set up was similar around that power and lasted tons of abuse didn't it?

no more news on the car lately as Andrew is on holiday and i am unsure when he's back so thought id just update on what ive been up to,

been busy decorating the cars new home for when i get it back,
i only used to have a rented council garage garage so this is absolute luxury be next to the house, and having water, a toilet to use lol and electric etc,

needed a good paint to brighten it up and decided to get some cheap carpet down, and of course a shit load of locks etc to keep everything secure, for obvious reason i wont mention where this is but i am now alot happier knowing the cars not gonna be sat in a council garage and now i have people there 24/7 to keep an eye on it for me

may not look much to you guys but working on the car is now gonna be so much better and easier, just got to get my tools in there etc

After seeing that post from MLR, i'd be gettin rid of that carpet, or being extremely careful when grinding etc... if you do keep it, which i wouldn't blame you becuse it's alot more comfy than hard concrete, it may be an idea to get a few cheap extinguishers in there. I know it's unlikely, but i'd hate to see another thread of a nice car going up in flames!

Andrew - the fronts set up looks the nuts when will the comp struts be ready and fitted?

I have emailed and phoned Dewitts but there shut now till Tuesday so will get the part ordered up then hopefully but no idea if there will be a wait etc, i'll keep you informed,

S1 Matt - i haven't read that thread but will have a look now you have said that but i am always careful doing any hotworks etc but may look at retardant spray or something to cover the carpet with if there is such a thing?
extinguishers will definitely be going in to be safe

Front set up looks great just the comp struts and adjustable track rod ends to be done,

Andrew now has the new group a steering rack shaft to finish off the steering column so should have an update
on that very soon,

Also I have sent Andrew an old dead varley red top 30 battery to use as a dummy to make up a recessed battery box behind the passenger seat,

it's sooo close to being finished up at Andrews now

Comps i wouldnt know, maybe some hill climbs? but just get as much track action in as you even a few trips to the ring to allow it to stretch its legs so to speak lol

nothing happening lately so for something to doi got myself a spare bootlid to trial fit the jwrc carbon spoiler,

the fiesta bootlid came with some kind of optional spoiler so had to remove this first but could not see any sign of bolts holding it on? turned out it has a push fit stud at either end and is bonded on with a foam strip,

so 20 mins with a heat gun and the old spoiler was off ready for a trial fit of the jwrc carbon item

i wanted the newer large spoiler but andreas erikson is the only one that sells it and its Ł1800

no updates from Andrew unfortunately as kenny his machining bloke has not got anything done again so looks like another firm is going to take over for the last few bits as Andrew has waited more than 2 weeks already and still nothing,

with the 2 skins on the boot spoiler section bending in quite badly when the spoiler brackets are tightened up i decided to weld in supporting tubes to take the flex away,

I know the metal is already a bit distorted from bolting up the spoiler before these were fitted but when its painted and has a skim of filler etc it will look mint again and im also doing the same to my other boot and will use the better of the 2

Now please excuse the welding, its my second go at welding since i decided to buy a welder and try things myself and was quite a delicate fiddly job imo so not easy for a total novice, and the co'2 gas was running out,

tubes welded into place

have you put a strengthening plate on the outside and inside of the sill ? if not it will buckle with the weight of the car on it.

I haven't done the sill stand tubes mark, all that side of things has been done by Andrew, so no worries there, strengthening plates fitted inside and out and its also tied into the cage bases i think, but cant remember,

you can make out the reinforcing plate at the rear here and its level with the cage base and the tubes i got i had made longer to reach right through to this,

Name: PICT0020.jpg
Views: 1148
Size: 184.1 KB

i was wrong looking by this about it joining cage base, but as you can see it has the reinfrcing plate inside too
