How longs it been stood for?
These engines tend to not like sitting for too long. Myself and a few mates have had them, bought them cheap cos they wouldnt start after being stood . Usually a new dizzy cap, plugs, rotor arm and leads will make it run if it was running previous to being laid up. Cant hurt to try.

Not sure what bits are interchangable between Mk1 and Mk2 but I have odds and sods lying about in my garage for a Mk2 5dr/Belmont. Door rubbers and stuff like that. Give me a shout if you think I might have any bits you can use.

i know wheres theres a totally original 1 in red, been sitting outside this guys house for at least 10 years, its literally falling apart in his drive, the kit is sitting on the floor where its dropped off!he wont part with it though, hes adamant that he will do something with it,its blocking in a rotten mk2 escort, another mk1 astra which is so rotten the inner wings have collapsed and the struts have came up and bent the bonnet and in the garage theres supposedly a mint mk1 astra.i like going past his house for a look as nothing ever changes!quite like the older vauxhalls, especially mk2 cavaliers!
