Escort RS2000 Turbo
Hi I’m back again seeking advice and guidance on how to bring a 4x4 mk6 escort rs2000 2.0l to cossie league. The 4x4 rs2000 is 150 bhp standard and the cossie's are about 220 bhp i think. But I don’t want to bring it to 220 bhp and leave it at that, i want to achieve around 350 or more if possible. I have looked on some sites about modifying zetec engines and turbo charging them, etc, but they are all guides on bringing the engine to around 200 bhp using 2.0l mondeo zetecs and putting small T25 turbo's on instead of larger cosworth turbo's. Also, it’s very common for people to tune mondeo zetec engines, are the rs2000 engines similar (as in is it worth modifying?) Could someone help me please? My first ever project idea was to get a mk3 Fiesta (which i did get) and put a S1 RS Turbo engine into it (which i also had), but i changed my mind about this because i don't want to deal with front wheel drive cars, if I’m doing a project it’s got to be rear or 4 wheel drive. I would still actually love to complete such a project using a mk3 fiesta but doing it 4x4 with cossie power, , maybe in the future. I don’t know if anyone noticed the mk3 fiesta that was on ebay up until yesterday, it was fully modified by some motorsport company, converted into a 4x4 using cosworth gear and producing 350 bhp, the auction ended with a bid of £8000 with reserve not met, probably wants £15-20k for it, lol. Anyway back to the point, lease reply with some guidance.

Well im aware of that problem but i was told there are ways about it, i don't know whether its tue or not but i was told that there are strengthened axles and that available for the rs2000 to enble it to cope with such power. If this isn't true then i can get axles made from a motorsport company (or have them modify the cosworth 4x4 sytem to fit my car) so that problem will be sorted. But it thats the case i would rather get the cosworth system modified for a mk3 fiesta or mk3 or 4 escort rather than the rs2000.

If its the transfer box thats the real problem, i should be able to use the cossie one. Right now my main concern is whether or not the engine is worth tuning and advice on what to do to get 350 or higher bhp out of it.

I think the engine needs to be moved forward an inch to use the Evo box, and there is a fair bit of other fabrication involved. But if your doing an I$ turbo you may aswel use the 2.3 block and have either a 2.2 stroker or a 2.3.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
find a cheap rotten old pulsar gtir and swap over every thing, always wanted to do something simler to my old rs2k 4x4 but the drive train is just too soft for turbo power, use the gtir stuff theres plenty of them goin about you'd even find a running one for around a grand, use the engine box and diff and get custom drive shafts made, easy peasy!!!

The cheapest way in my opinion would be to sell your RS2000, and then buy an Escort Cossie. Lets aim for the middle of the road for it's age, value etc and says it's worth £2500. Might be worth more, might be worth less I dunno...
Now, sell your RS2k.
You could buy a nice Escort Cos for 13k, so total outlay is going to be 10,500....
As for the modify the RS2k plan...
EVO transmission upgrade is going to cost 5k EASY unless you have a rig for lining the chassis up on in your garage...
Engine will need pistons, rods, crank for that power. 3k..
Managment, cossie would do it, budget 500 quid for the managment plus 600 for mapping.
Suspension, budget 1k.
Brakes..... 500 ish? Exhaust would need to be a custom job too, 300 quid?
PLus budget another thousand or so when it breaks first time out.
Value when it's finished????
6 grand, maybe??
