Escort cosworth restoraition wih improvements
Rite guys and girls been meaning to start a thread for a while so here goes.
Got my escos in july last year after swapping my mk2 clio v6 for it.
After driving it round for a while i decided i wanted to get it back to better than new so took it of the road december last year and im probably about halfway there now so heres the pics of the progress so far.
First day of the resto tkae the engine out
Then got the gearbox and engine seperated and on the stand
then get the rear beam and bits off
Cleaned up the caliper mounts
hubs and carriers ready to go for shot blasting and plating
disk carriers ready to be anodised
rear beam bits ready for shot blasting and powder coating
loads of other bits ready for plating
hubs and carriers all done and plated
all me bits back from powder coaters
started putting the rear beam back together
Me disk carriers all anodised
my intercooler after a bit of a clean
bits back from plating
under side before and after cleaning ready for a new coat
disks back together
rear beam all finished
gearbox with a fresh spray
front calipers before and after cleaning
shiney bits after cleaning
engine mounts after clean and spray
now some new bits
fixed top mounts
adjustable tcas
comp strut kit
rear calipers
water pump
geniune wrc headgasket
grp a gasket set
sump baffle
k and n
starter motor cleaned and sprayed
some bits for blasting
block and head all sprayed and back together
exhaust all heat wrapped
old and reconned alternator
rocker cover sprayed candy red
big winged sump fitted
few more bits bolted on the engine
and now the good bit got the turbo last weekend a gt30 with external waste gate got it trial fitted still need a few more bits tho. Thanks to martin at reyland, couldnt meet a nicer guy or more knowledgable
and thats what ive been doing for the last 3 months more soon tho

Rite then boys and girls another update got some pulleys and alternator bracket bak from powder coating just waiting on my crossmember. Also got to get some bits and bobs electro plated then i can get it timed. Anyway heres some pics

rite guys another update got the underneith of it stone chiped now just need to do the wheel arches and then spray
also got me prop all cleaned and sprayed
and lastly got a few more bits back and on the engine
and how the car stands at the moment

another bit done had to figure out how to mark the top mounts for drilling. Trying to measure would have been stupidly hard so came up with an idea to make a bung that goes tight in the strut top with a hole dead central to pull the top mount up square got all the measurements and then my brilliant neighbour machined them for me and heres the finished artical will drill them this weekend :icon_smile:
