Zetec-S is gone, Corsa GSi red top here
Sold my red Zetec-S on Azev A's i had and decided to buy a red top converted white corsa GSi, it come up at the right price, wanted some work doing but the price was right and i fancied something i can play with again so had to buy it.
got the car and replaced a coolant hose on the rear of the waterpump with a black silicone one as the original was split, replaced one of the rear core plugs the awkward one above the starter as that developed a leak through corrosion, dont think people have had anti freeze in it.
Had a toad Ai606 cat 1 fitted by barry at safe and sound, top fella!! highly recomended,
car has had following new parts.
Plugs, Leads, DIzzy Cap, Rotor arm, Coil, Ignition Amp, 2.0 valver front brakes, with red dot drilled and grooved discs and mintex pads. new drums, wheel bearings, shoes and wheel cylinders on the rear.
having a wiring problem with the car at the minute, somewhere where the person who done the conversion scrimped on, so half the loom is stripped back and being soldered together and heatshrinked properley.
while i was waiting for a wiring diagram the other night i decided to take the front bumper off, headlamps out and start a general mint up of the car and mount my 4300k HID's out of the way so it looks nice and tidy.
some pics of the car together and in bits, will update at the weekend. with more fresh pics as it goes cleaner under the bonnet and arches and hopefully the loom is back together with some new relays too.
Got some Polaris Grey paint too for the wheels to break the car up a bit, got to have a touch of ford in it somewhere lol
car is never going to be concours but as long as its a Solid tidy shell i will be a happy bunny. Car has 15 inch comp mo's, valver stoppers, snide G-max shocks and springs which will be replaced, some smoked ultra rear lights i think they are, stainless exhaust, usual alpine MP3 headunit, infinity tweeters and mids, de-wipered bootlid, FK headlamps, 4300K hid's and the usual GSi kit.

hi m8 i prefer the zetec s but i do think pepole are being a bit harsh on the car i owned a corser at 1 point and in standard form it was pritty limp but wi 16in rims on lowered spring the car was anreal handler and the origanal 1.2 engine was really nippy the only thing i found hard 2 live with is how close the accelerater is to the inner wheel arch my foot always cept gettin jammed lol but it looks like a clean gsi and there hard 2 find in good condition so looks like u have a good 1

Professional Waffler
Looks good, i would change those rear lights though, i mean there not half as bad as lexus jobbies but i think some standard rears(well smoked or whatever they are) ones with no yellow on? would transform the back

i can vouch for the red tops really strong engines when u have a good 1 that is my m8 had 1 a while back and it made 160bhp standerd apart from a good service totally wickid top ends his was pumpin out well past 150mph in his cav the pin was bouncing of the bottem of the dial so i can only imagine what that engine would have bin like in a corsa b ither way it would have bin a mental combonation

The more turbos,more fun!
I love the comments about the zetec-s being better from people who have never driven an xe'd power corsa, i love them and love white gsi with white rims.

please ellaborate how its "done up" its a was an original GSi from the factory, there wasnt many in white in the first place, this has all the standard kit and splitters, standard interior, different wheels, GSi decals off a nova GSi on the door to break it up, smooth handles, and smoked back lights.....
i can't see why you think its "chavs wet dream"............
thanks for the other comments!!
car is getting standard back lights and is going to be mega clean over the next few weeks, jsut cleared a load of work so can start work on the underneath this weekend, bit of welding to do, usual corsa stuff. but will all be nice and solid, clean and mint once done.
nothing worse than a car with an engine conversion you dont know the history of, thats why am basically starting fresh with it.
Gaz coilies will be ordered after body work is done too and a whiteline rear ARB

and the car does go well, obviously not gonna be the fastest or best handling thing about, but tbh for what money the car stands me and what it is i'm onto a winner and will be able to get it spanking mint, maybe do a few track days in it and get my money back which for me is happy days.
Motor is VERY strong for a standard one too, seems healthy, overfuels a little but it will be getting a good rebuild once the shells minty mint.

totally agree this is not the ideal place to be telling people you got rid of a Zetec S and replaced it with a vauxhall corsa!!
The handling in these is poor by comparison to the zetec s. Ive seen a lovely zetec s with a focus Rs engine running in it. Now that would definatly be a step up, or even a puma engine.
Keep it Ford

i have driven both a zetec s and an xe powered corsa and the corsa would be fine if all our roads were straight, but where the zetec s looses out in power makes up in cornering and looks.

so hope it works out well.
Im building a 2.0 DOHC westfield replica so i know how tricky these jobs can be

and to all the people who say Zetec-S's handle brillaint, they really dont....
there very arse end happy and they dont really have the power to drag themselves round the bends IMO. it wasnt a bad car done exactly what it said on the tin, but even with strut braces and a set of springs and puma stub axle spacers it wasnt as good as my mk3 Si, not a patch on it.
and to whoever said about a Zetec-S with a focus RS engine in...... isnt that the same scenario as a corsa red top? lightweight little hatch back with a heavy motor in the front, would ruin the handling IMO unless the box went on too and some PROPER suspension work.
currently on the look for a roll of braided brake hose and the fittings to run braided lines from the master cylinder straight to the calipers/clylinders. going to keep it pretty factory looking but brought clean and simple. anything it dosent need is going, the more shiny white paint on show the better IMO lol
And why not say i've got rid of a ford and replaced it with a vauxhall, whatever the badge is if the cars mint in the first place of a good decent base to make into a mint decent spec car then its more than adequate for me. I've had quite a few fords in the past and will have another in the future but i refuse to buy another zetec-s, 2.0 Si, RS turbo etc...... the next ford i buy will be a nice mint straight saph cossie.

yeah red top motors are absolutely BULLETPROOF!!! this thing loves to be driven hard, need to cut the baffle plate down inside the rocker cover though as it gets smokey sometimes on the twisties
