My rotten s2..... Finished (ish) :D
Been meaning to put up a few pics of the repair work I did to my s2 after purchasing it a few years ago.
However on closer inspection i spent so much time doing it up i forgot to take a load of pictures of the progress! mainly because the more bodywork i removed, the more rot and rust i found. Didnt want to scrap it though so i got to work big style!
But, heres a few to give an idea of the state it was in!
After wanting a turbo for two years and finally getting to an age where i could insure one sensibly, i went and bought this for cheap as it had not moved for 8 years. (however the engine was sound and has lasted me two years...but, it is time for a fresh one which is in the process of being built now)
Day1.. very tense... and once it was on its side.. the damage report hit me like a kick in the nuts! i knew it would be a good few months of weekends before i got to drive my first rst!
the front end before
and after
this was the better of the two rear arches!
other arch finished
the sil
didnt get any of that side finished but the other side was nearly as bad, along with the chassis rails which needed to be rebuilt completely in some sections.
then when all was done
and prolly the most recent pic..
wish i had taken more of the restore as it was a hell of a job!
update, found some before and after of underside

cheers man. yeah there's a mini garage up near me and i kept seeing the red cooper S's on white wheels and i thought it looked good.
did have a set of white MO's to begin with, but they were an ambitious purchase and the money was really needed else where!

how easy was it to lift on its side with them things on the hubs & how much where they.
car is very nice now mate.top job[/QUOTE]
i'm not sure how much they cost, i borrowed them off a mate. i dont think they cost too much tho. theres loads of different sorts as well.. those are the cheapest simple ones. The best bolt to the front and back bumpers so you can just roll the car over and over where it stands like a hog roast!
wasnt too bad rolling it over, jack up the side about a foot and then took 3 of us although once i rolled it one way and then got it back down and rolled it the other, there was a little bit of gearbox oil dripping onto the floor, trying to lift it again it ended up slipping away from us and we were just walking the car towards my house!! needed a beer and a cig after that one! reckon i lost about 2 years through panic lol!

Managed to get the engine out today! so i can start building my nice new fresh one!
old engine was a breeze to take out with a little help from sealey! =]
did a bit of open heart surgery while it was on the crane.
gonna need a good cleaning now.

Cracked out the compressor and had a bash at spraying as ive only ever watched my brother do it.

Managed to brave the snow again today to get into the garage and carry on building the engine.
got it nearly all pieced back together now. with a trial fit of painted components.
and got the recon LSD box back as well!
should be back on the road as soon as the snow clears to get the engine crane across the yard!
