As it happens, been scratching my head for months about the steering and not wanting to cut the sump.

Managed to get a mazda MX5 power rack on with a home made X member

Needs a bit of bracing then refit, with the track control arms
check the capri anti roll bar for width
make anti roll bar brackets for chassis

Some crazy skill to be able to see components and metal, imagine an end product and put it all together. This project takes some balls but is clearly going to be epic when done!

Awesome engineering skills you've got there!

Why the Lotus engine out of interest? Just decided to be totally different or get it cheap etc..?

Hi guys.

The engine makes 350HP but as i'm intercooling it i can up the boost a bit, should be 400HP

I did get the engine cheap, as it was dead, with bent valves and lots of bits robbed off of it.

some of the parts i had to source

Just wanted to be different,

I want to turn up at a lotus cortina owners meet and someone to say 'that isnt a Lotus Cortina' then i'll open the bonnet.

Hey fella, only just noticed this thread. You remind me of myself when I was perhaps your age doing a number of wild engine swaps on different cars. I notice that Cortina is a 2 door, not too many around especially these days. My old man had a Mk2 1600 super which had the L-plates on as soon as I was 17, VUY 508G. What model is it, a GT by any chance? And what is the front seat out of, its not a Cortina item is it?
I see some GT rostyles on it in some of the pics.
Full respect for the work going on, been there so many times, sometimes until 3 in the morning in a freezing lock up just to get a job finished.
Did you know that in the '70s, a tuner called Jeff Uren did various conversions on Cortinas and Corsairs using 3.0 V6 Ford lumps naming the Cortina V6 the savage and the Corsair the Apache! (I hope my memory serves me well here)
Those pics really do take me back to my early to late 20s.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

thanks mate, i was aware of the V6 conversion, and i did a couple myself years ago.
This one i turned into a pick up , the V6 engine was supercharged, had a jag back axle and the rads were in the pick up floor

The Mk 2 i'm doing now was a 2 door 1500GT, an early one before the 1600 crossflow and being a GT, it has anti tramp bars.

The bench seat is from a 2 door cortina, very rare, as the majority of bench seats have fixed backs as they are from 4 door cars or estates.
Took a couple of years to find one

I would like to keep the rostyles, but will have to see if i can find some bigger brakes to fit within them
