Well after the little eye incident work has commenced on the car. I have decided to start on the underside of the car in preperation for cleaning and painting the underneath. First thing on the agenda was removing the fuel tank... Unbolting the thing seemed pretty easy with no snapped bolts..so the straps came off nicely, but due to being rusty and poo looking I have decided that I will be replacing these. The problems that I faced in the removal were the jubilee clips which hold the filler pipe and the breather pipe to the filler neck in the wheel arch, and the broken clip on the fuel return pipe which is connected to the pump unit. Now i have heard like a lot of other things that these return pipes are no longer avail...so I wil be looking for ideas in a suitable replacement.
As you can see the end part of the return pipe has come off... appeared someone had tried levering off at some point and snapped half the end, and when it came to me removing it it came off in my hand...oo er missus
for a fifteen year old car I dont think this looks too bad.
I have pinched the following piccy from redrsmk5, hope you dont mind mate.
Does anyone know if the bit circled is still avail and what is it called. The bracket on mine has been snapped and was only held on by one screw.. so out with the old and in with the new. I take it its some part of the breathing system or something, and is it meant to rattle?
Like I say, I dont really know that much when it comes to the fuel system etc as I have never had to deal with it before. So if anyone has some good ideas for mods to the fuel pipes to replace the ford stuff then let me know... Ta

Yeah it is part of the fuel breathing system and they do rattle when they are shaken, one of the rs breakers might have one if yours is no good.
Alternatively phone allen fords in romford or go and speak to martin on the parts desk, hes normally very helpfull and will go through the micro fische with ya and tell if you can still get the parts...
