Cheers fella, thats the kind of response i was hoping for

As for the uglyest one... personally i love it in the limited edition Prodrive guise, different bumper, skirts, grille. spoiler etc.

Also it was maximum performance vs cash outlay. I was happy to buy the ugly one fella

I love your car Frayz and the attention to detail. I love the flocked dash, the prodrive diff guard and obviously the roof flap My sister still needs to get a roof flap for her scoob

It's going to be quite an animal with the new engine. One day I'll get to see it in the flesh hopefully

Not overly keen on the stickers, But it does look good!

Love the exhaust, and as its been said, looks like some cash has been spent on it!

Fair play

What gearbox you running? I seen a scooby estate the other day make 434bhp - 488lbft, on a standard but new type box. The guy said it should be 'ok', although the clutch was making a nasty noise

Stock STI 6 speed box and diffs mate.

The new 6 speeds are practically bomb proof and are capable of 600lbsft. The Twin plate carbon clutch and light flywheel will be plenty enough for my transmission.

The twin plate clutchs do rattle when the pedal is depressed but thats just a trait of every multiplate ive heard before.

Get the gearstes from the 5 speed next to the 6 speeder and the 5 speed gears are totally dwarfed by that of the 6 speed. The casing is also massive beefed up and mega strong.

I think Subaru slightly over engineered the STI drivetrain somewhat

Well not much has gone on recently really

The car is SORN and due to have the motor pulled. However i have one fundamental issue.... im still waiting on my new crank.

FFS its doing my head in and i have done as much as i possibly can but now im stuck and just waiting for that to arrive and i can crack straight on with the build.

Today i tried to keep up my interest in the car by welding a fitting onto my boost pipe for my new Tial 50mm BOV.

Heres a pic just to show.

Other than that its all pretty quiet at camp frayz, and im feeling pretty dispondant with it if im honest

(Please ignore the orange vac line, its just for the purpose of testing it was working until i get new vac lines.)

Crikey Frayz, blast from the past. Your dash must have been one of the first few i coated when i started out flocking over two years ago now.

Don't think i got the email about the advert? Hmmm.

Things are going well.

Thanks for spreading the word. I'm sure half the scooby dashes i did in the begining were down to seeing your dash on the net.

Ive swapped some things about and located a crank elsewhere. I should have a brand new EJ257 crank at my door first thing in the morning.

So with that said it looks like i'll be at least starting the bottom end assembly as soon as i get a spare minute.

This is a somewhat happier me

Also got a few other parts today,

Also picked up some new rocker cover gaskets today too. Still waiting on a fair few more parts but at least the list of "things to buy" is slowly getting smaller lol.

Like someone mentioned already.........a true petrol head appreciates any car...........that's being built to the standard your's is. And its a great change to see one that's been done properly. Good luck and keep visiting here and keeping us updated. Have you got anything planned for it.........Track Days/Time Attack, or just an awesome road car.

Looks Fantastic

Just fast road and Nurburgring mate...

I dont see the point of doing things half heartedly so i dont see the point in entering the Time Attack unless i stand a chance in coming anywhere. The TA is won by the biggest budget and that certainly does not include me lol.

Thanks for the comments, im trying to make the best job i can

Cleared some room today, gotta bite the bullet soon and start stripping the motor out of the car

Unfortunately, on further inspection the crank was found to be damaged. The guys at Area 52 were on it straight away and have promised me a replacement for Monday. Top, no fuss service

I'll start by stripping most of the stock motor in the car. All parts will be photgraphed, bagged and tagged with locations and hardware.

I want to try and refurbish as may parts, bracket etc as possible so it will all be as minty mint as i can make it when it all goes back together.

Then i'll need to borrow and engine crane and have the motor out.

Remember, this is no concours car, just a one man band doing what i do.

Ready to rock

Glad to report that my crank has been checked, polished and measured. All clearances are within spec. It was then hot washed and now cooling before it will be oiled, bagged and sealed ready for build.

I'll be stripping the old one before the new one is built. Will post pics as i go, bare with me

Now I wouldn't want to do that, as we both know that they are not going to perform the same due to different, ahem, turbos...

(at least no one over here can jump on the 'turbo wars' bandwagon.. )

Lol, if anything the green with the 8cm should outflow the T but i dare not say that over on SN or 22B.

FWIW ive used both and they both feel almost identical to drive with. Id say the T has a better boost response in the middle. By that i mean the green is metal and the T is ballistic lol.

Im looking at cams and headwork at the mo too... kin' more money lol

Crap phone pic, but i got some time free to start stripping the engine bay tonight.

All openings are capped to prevent any contamination, all wires are zip tied and all multiplugs have been bagged and zipped to prevent any water ingress.

Still waiting on an engine crane but im off the the WRC Germany next week so it wont come out before then anyway.

But at least you can see ive done something... the bulllet has well and truely been bitten!!
