tiny update just to show i'm still alive and doing something
I'm back and still at it. though not an awful lot has been done
we spent wednesday and thursday going through bits to put back on and trying to get a game plan sorted.
I'm pleased to say we have finally been blessed with a fuel tank and that is getting the "make me look new" treatment as we speak. so, hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will have fuelling and brake lines mounted and maybe turn our attention to sourcing a good fuel pump bracket. though for us it seems to be the proverbial rocking horse s**t
one big turning point for us though. we have put the headlining back in and adjusted tailgate and doors with the rubbers fitted, fully built the tailgate and fitted the spoiler and i must say shes starting to look nice.
We still have not fitted the dash because we want to be sure all wiring and controls are functioning, which tbh I would pefer the engine in with starting and charging systems operational so watch this space.
daylight is scarce atm so pictures will follow soon.
thanks for looking...

I wanted my 100th post to be worth it.
I've been a lazy git now since christmas and It's high time we made some progress on the car.
Personal lives suffered a bit and some time was spent with the family but I've got the hump now and want to get this thing finished before we lose another summer.
You may recall we had some trouble with the fuel tank and handbrake cable, both issues have now been resolved and are happily sitting where they take up no space ie under the car
We have also run the brake lines and fuel lines down the underside in new clips with the wiring loom to the fuel pump run round the tank.
Incedently the reason the tank became such a problem is, We had it powdercoated originally but sadly the tank didn't like being sand/ shotblasted and became more like a tea bag than a petrol tank
Handbrake cable also gave us grief.
Trying to get somebody to supply you a one piece mk3 handbrake cable when they're adamant they've supplied you the right ones twice which were wrong (I know what i mean)
Then at last you find a supplier that knows the difference between right and wrong.lol
Living proof. the right cable does exist and i got one
Not done a great deal inside carpet and interior will be more or less the last bits to go in simply because I Want to make sure wiring loom and connections are sound to the fuel tank sender and pump.
The last piece of the jigsaw underneath is the fuel pump bracket which carl tells me is in hand but I'm keeping my eyes peeled anyway.
Now we have the makings of a handbrake and brake lines weve turned our attention to the servo, linkage, brackets, pedal box and steering column.
oh yeah and the bias valves.
all in preparation for the engine and gearbox which is still a while away.
I'm also considering seeing if some of the wiring loom could be routed differently because at the moment its a bit like spaghetti junction in the bay.
A replacement steering rack is on the shopping list next the old one was temporarily fitted to allow rolling for paintwork.
Finally, some other areas have been done eg headlining is back in along with sunroof and quarter trims. tailgate is complete barring final polishing and decals Both doors are mostly refitted with the exception of door handles and locks (just got to find the right box they're here somewhere)
Back to it thursday. expect some more updates soon guys.
It's good to be back.

Its going to be 90% standard will eventually be running a bigger turbo and a non standard intercooler as both items of the car are shot. going to remove some of the non essential wiring loom to tidy the bay up a bit and generally have a nice, strong clean example of one of the best cars ford ever made.

Feck me thats my old car, the main picture is on my old drive was taken in 1993 i used to
live just of Anerley hill. I remember taking the picture as i had just had the wheels
polished and painted. It was my pride and joy i moved to Dagenham in 1994 and just
could not justify having it sitting at the bottom of a block of flats waiting to get ruined,
so i sold it for 2500 and put the money towards my wedding ( c**t ) lol
Good to see it being reborn , by the way what bodyshop is doing the work ?

Hi. I knew it was an old picture but didn't quite realise how old.
Thats how we want it to look again.
with regards to the work it's so far been a labour of love for me and carl (owner) were both in the trade and do it in our "spare" time

We have found a fuel pump bracket in reasonable condition. Its coming from overseas if it doesnt go before we get it. I'm sitting with fingers, arms and legs well and truly crossed.

Bummer. got outbid on the fuel pump bracket. could anyone help us out with one. pm me if u can.
Anyway. Been over the garage tonight and got a bit done but sadly forgot my camera. plan was to get the car back in the air and remove the front antiroll bar set up that we temporarily fitted back on so it could roll in for painting. and dismantle it.
Thankfully a bit of common a few months ago told me to soak the bolts periodically so they come undone. because believe me when i say these bolts were seized to start with i mean seemed like they were gonna snap.
but now, all 9 pieces of the jigsaw are off to powdercoat and if they look like the rear suspension we had done we'll be happy. while thats away. we need to turn our attention to sourcing some new rose joints for the adjustable arms and two new lower arms. (t.c.a's) because both lower ball joints are knackered and gaiters split. (no surprise there then).
Once thats back. A bit more work around the bay and the ancillaries and we may just see an engine going back in in the near future.
getting quite excited now.
Watch this space.
