Feels like such a long time ago u went down to Marks with the car.
Its good to see the progress of the car over the years, forgot how much had actually been done.
Also a funny story that you have forgotten...... the first nite he got the car back from AVA after being set up the T4 melted the alternator. It was late at night and the AA couldnt come until the morning. So rather than leave his precious car (unprotected car, No Electrics, so no alarm) in a travel lodge car park all night he got me to drop off a sleeping bag and slept in the car all night! and it was an AA truck to AVA in the morning!
Thats Dedication!

Great respect for you & your car Euan, consistently fast at Brunters .
You are always prepared to put your car on the line so only praise from me.
Hope to see it past 190mph before end of year, dont forget my invite..

So I'll continue on the the story.....
As I said in the last post Alan had the car on the rollers to access what area could be improved upon.
Lots of temperatures and pressure reads were taken and the descion was to optimise the cam timing as the veriners were still set to the standard settings and to build a exhaust for the car as the Magnex twin system was becoming restrictive.
Cam timing was set and and saw a massive gain in the bottom end and mid range but almost nothing at the top end which backed up our back pressure tests so I left the car for a few weeks for them to get on with the exhaust system.
When recived the call to go for a wee look see at the exhaust I was shocked on how big it actually looked on the car.

So a 4" downpipe and front section into to centre silencer boxes then a twin 3 " system into on large rear silencer was constructed and wont become restrictive again til 750 bhp.
Now the bit that you love or hate!
I love how it looks personally as its completly different from any other cossie.

After the exhaust was finished the car was ran up on the rollers again the map altered and the power was measured.
To say the top end had improved was an understatment!

The power was now 453 ATW and the car was flying, it was a massive improvement over the 400 ATW spec.
These improvents are mostly down to the exhaust and my car was one of the first to have a "proper" exhaust, the exhaust was very expensive but I think the results speak for themselves

Not long after this I got an invite to the daddy thrash so the car was back to AVA to get a full spanner check and the braking system overhauled along with 4 new tyres fitted.
I got a 310mm disc 4x4 caliper set up with ds2500 pads on the rear with some new 355mm discs and some new ds2500's for the fronts too.
The car recived a few tweeks to try and help it on the runway.
The airbox was modded and protected from heat and the rad and cooler were boxed in and a partial undertray created.
The car was then parked up for a few weeks as I didnt want to break anything before the thrash.
We drove down to Woodbridge the night before and slept in the van (Tom sprinter is kitted out with two beds, TV and even a microwave)after arriving at RAF Woodbridge at 4am to be greeted by armed guards!
AVA arranged a pretty nifty trailer!

After almost freezing to death in the van we were greated by sunshine and a dry runway!
A few other cars started turning up.

My first dady thrash went really well with no problems whatsoever with the car over the 5 runs.
On the first sighting run with Colin inthe car I shortshifted into 5th only to realise that we still had miles to go, so dropped back into 4th and went for it............
First ever run with mirrors etc on was 180.3 so we knew we were on it without even really trying!
Was quite funny as noone really paid much attention to the saf with the funny exhaust and were far more interested in the cars they knew(Ade's, Andy's, Martins etc) until the moment Nick from PF downloaded the first 3 runs and we realised we had went 180.3, 181.6 then 182.5!
Suddenly I was in the "double top club" and I got a hand shake from Rod to welcome me to the club.
we handed the timing gear back and went to the van for something to eat.

After something to eat and a few hours spectating it was time to go for another go on the timing gear.
After discussing it with Rod he had advised to remove the mirrors, wipers etc as he reconned it should help.
Top speed mode!
Lined up the car at the bottom of the runway and went for another run, only really getting the foot right down from 3rd gear onwards.
The car was flying and really tried to keep the foot in and "scare" myself under braking, think i succeded as I went off the runway at the end and into the ruff undergrowth at the end!
It worked as I managed 184.7 on the last run and became the 4th( I think) fastest cossie at the time
We said our good byes and headed up the road back to Scotland with plans already hatching for more power and the runway next year!
