My 3dr "Cossie" (on road again)
Hello from Finland!
I just thought about posting this, so here it is.
I'm gonna introduce you my love, Ford Sierra 3dr '85, with 2.0 OHC EFi engine. This is a real living back-yard-build.
From factory it came with 1.6 OHC, but nowadays it has iS 2.0 OHC with:
Lowered & Ported head.
Pipercams 134 cam & Crane valvesprings.
"Modified" MAF so that crappy EEC-IV gives me richer fuel/air ratio.
4-2-1 type header and slightly noisy but not yet disturbing ~2" exhaust.
Whole engine is rebuilt just 30 000 km ago, so it's in good condition.
Although it sounds neat and is not slow, for my taste it needs more power, gonna see if I can squeeze my budget and build a turbo-engine in it someday.
Gearbox is 4-speed type-9, 5-speed one is waiting on my garage, but I have to say that I kinda like that 4-speed, top-speed of course isn't so great with it, but this is a daily-driver.
Lowered springs, gas shocks, fat anti-roll-bar at front, polyurethane bushes. XR4i brakes at front, in rear there is just 9" drums.
205/50 15 wheels (Cossie size ).
And then for the pics.
When I bought it, it looked like this:
Nowadays it looks like this:
Oh and almost forgot, little pic of teh interior:
My seats don't really support from sides, but they're fine for now.
No picture from engine bay for now, nothing special in there really.
Tell me whatever you think.

I owned arches some time ago, but I sold them because to be honest I hate bodywork and they were fiberglass replicas, in need of some work...
I don't really think that it looks "off" without them. I think it looks good and I don't really want it to fully look like a Cossie, because it isn't a real one.
I like it how it is now. I haven't never been a fussy about little things, it's the overall look and feeling what is important for me.
It's really just an opinion difference.

Here's pictures of the engine, as asked:
Yes, that's a stock manifold.
Not a tidy show car as you can see.
BTW, I'm a bug killer!

Well at least the turbo is missing. But dunno what you mean with the cam? There's Pipercams 134 already (266 Radius and 12.19 lift), actually it's pretty much the best what you can get working with that EEC-IV. Adjustable cam gear would be good tho.

Couldn't really afford turbo stuff now, because of all little other things taking my money off. So it can be like that for a while now, but the plan lives still in my dreams.
Nothing special have really happened, bearings from rear did broke while burning some rubber, so I changed them. There was a tiny petrol leak under the car, fixed that.
I also bought A/F meter, from a member of Finnish Cosworth & RS Club.
Finnish Motor Instruments (FMI) 1.2
My summer holiday ends next week, so I need this car again as a daily drive. Gonna see when I'm again able to do some "funny" stuff to it.

Well thanks. To be honest, I still like how it used to be, but how it looks now is very nice for my eyes too, of course. You can get a 3dr pretty cheap now, I'm currently selling my other 3dr, it only has a 1.6 OHC in need of some adjusting to the valves, but the body is in pretty good condition, still I'm very lucky if I can get 200 euros from it.
Good ones with 2.0i engine are definitely more expensive, but not that much really. I have been planning on something like a original looking iS, with turboed Pinto, could be so much fun. But we'll see, for now it seems that I'm going to get this white one turboed if I can afford it. After all she deserves more power.

It Wasnt Me!
This is the one i'm looking at for Ł500
2.0 pinto, Cosworth seats/suspension and rear brakes, but I really shouldnt as I need to sell my fiesta turbo to fund it (which was also money for my coilover suspension for my S1) and I stil have to finnish my S1, which will cost a fair bit

Passed the MOT today.
Before MOT I had very bad wobbly front disks and my rear brakes didn't really work as they should. Much stuff is now replaced and tweaked and now my brakes feel really good. They haven't been this good ever during the time I have had this car.
Also when I go to get my car MOT'd i always have to change the mass air flow meter to more "legal" one and after the MOT I had a big joy to put the polluting one back and give some right foot. It is horribly slow with the legal one.
To the celebration I got out to the road and weared some off of my rear (and front) tires. Fun fun.

Nothing special have been on now really.
Just to report that my hand brake stopped working (again!!)
For what I know they're probably the automatic adjustments in rear what have worn off, gotta fix it. Again I have to open those bloody rear brakes.
When I'm a rich bastard I'll buy a whole rear axle with disk brakes and locked diff.

Nothing special again, car runs like a dream everyday, tho my rear-view mirror snapped off while I tried to adjust it and the battery is a bit weak.
But I bought new headlights.
Just need to fit them now and hopefully I'm going to see something with these when it's dark.
Current ones are so bad that it doesn't matter if I have low or high beam on because they are as good as fog lights some people have...

Changed the headlights and putted the mirror back on.
Man I love my new lights, these really are good. Even the low-beams are better than the high-beams were on my old lights.
For fun I actually drove one dark road near by again and again and smiled during driving because with these lights it actually wasn't a dark road anymore.
These are even bit better than the lights in my dad's 11 years newer Nissan.

The sun had melted ice from roads so decided to go for a quick run.
Did few 100 - 170 km/h runs on motorway and GODDAMN I need more power! It goes nicely 0-100 (doesn't make me feel like I'm waiting it for start to go) but in a longer pull it just feels slow.
But I'm pissed because I'm poor and don't have any money to do anything for her really.
Sorry for this useless post.

Thanks for your nice comments.
Glenny Boy, if you mean the usual 3dr side skirts / arches, no I don't. I used to own a kit, but I really wasn't keen on doing all the fitting work and decided to sell them and use the money for more important things. Like slowly saving money to get something faster under the hood and so on. Plus it's not a genuine Cossie so I don't mind it fully looking like one. After all a guy who knows his stuff would instantly see it not being a genuine one even with the full Cossie kit.

Heh a lot of people probably thinks like that, but not me. These 15's look a lot better in nature than they do in pictures. I could someday get 16's but 17's are a bit overkill for my taste. I like to see some rubber too.

Changed my summer tires on. Love the looks with them.
Fixed some wiring work from the ex owner. I had some problems with one bad end of a wire and a connector in it connecting it to the + of the battery. Basically one time it scared me when after I overtook a truck and my car just died suddenly when the connection was lost... Shortened the wire and changed the connector.
Disconnected the wires from the idle valve and noticed that the idle wasn't properly adjusted from the throttle body, so the car just died. The screw was a bit stuck because the same "not so professional -like" repair shop had put some thread locker in there... Well I cleaned the threads and then adjusted the idle how it's supposed to.
I didn't connect the idle valve back on, basically it just isn't needed that much. Now generally the idle works better, it doesn't just sail between 1000 and 2000 rpm.
Then I went for a run. Draw some rubber and went sideways in dry asphalt few times, no pitying the stud tires anymore!
I feel like I get more smiling looks with the summer tires / wheels on.
Couple of times after a pull I didn't had an idle and it died, but it always has done this, I think I just have to blame the combination of EEC-IV + more aggressive cam etc. stuff from it.
I can see the summer already.

Adjusted the idle some more, now I set it up to be a little bit higher than originally, so it doesn't die so easily after pulls, or at least I didn't get it to die now.
Also there seems to be some clearance on my steering, I can notice a little "dead area" in it. Dunno what is causing this yet, I have to try to find the cause. Maybe this is sign for me to finally get the faster steering ratio then.

Thanks again.
And well I found reason for the dead area in the steering. The whole goddamn rack bar is almost loose, the bolts have somehow unscrewed themself and so the whole rack bar moves left and right when I turn the wheel.
Well not a big job then and doesn't require shopping any parts so I don't think I will yet get the faster steering ratio, the slower one will do for now then.

Tightened the bolts then, can't feel anything weird in the steering anymore, really nice to drive in a nice windy road now.
Adjusted the idle a bit more again, I had adjusted it a bit too high earlier so lowered it a bit. Sometimes it is a little bit higher because the throttle "flap" (how I should call it in English?) doesn't close properly against the stopper, but usually a quick tap on the accelerator pedal fixes it.

Installed the 4-2-1 header and the AFR meter, tho it's not yet correctly working.
That manifold definitely wasn't a miss spend money, seems like that bit tuned Pinto really needed it to work correctly.
A lot more torque at lower revs and now it pulls nicely from 3000 to 6000, with the stock manifold it was more like 5000-6000...
