Default Making/copying old brake pipes

Has anyone made new brake pipes out of the OFFICIAL green coloured/coated ford brake pipe. Im trying to copy/renew some of my XR3i pipes, and bought a flaring tool but its crap, and makes a mess of the pipe. So if anyone has any experience of making pipes, out of this FORD pipe, can they give me any tips.....Im trying to use the FORD stuff to keep the car looking original. Also does anyone know what size the original ford stuff is and what its made of............

make the pipes out of copper for ease and then cover it with green heat shrink. thats what i've done but using red heat shrink. looks really good.
