Default Dan's MK2 Fiesta *engine,wheels, etc*

Hi my name is Dan(obviously, lol) from Lincoln
This is my E-reg '88 mk2 fiesta.
Ive owned it since November 2007.
BTW its a 1.0 for now.
This is the pic that the lad selling the car used,so i just had to have it.

Heres a few pics after i bought it,it was in a right mess inside and out but after me and my mate Jonny spent a bit of time on it the mk2 was gleaming.
I knew already that i wanted to gid rid of the seats, badges, wheels, stupid silver thing covering the fuel cap, fogs, and orange indicators.

A few days later i took the fogs off and as you can see from the pics i got a pair of '90-spec recaros, they felt much better,oh yeah it came with the XR2 steering wheel .

I then decided to buy and fit a set of clear indicators, fit some black 13" steelies and remove the ford badge on the bonnet. At this point i was happy with how it was looking.

Then a mate of mine asked me if i wanted to buy his old pepperpots,so i did.

They were in need of some tlc so over a few weeks thats what i gave them

I then started to paint then all inside and out when the tryes were off in matt black as apposed to the usual gloss.

Once they were all dry and new tyres had been put on I got to work fitting them up.

Then on a day off i got bored and decided to buy these carbon fibre strut tops

Here's a recent pic of it at Fiesta In The park on the XRTwo.com stand

Thats all for now but ive since stripped the interior as im planing on turning it into a track toy so i'll get pics up soon.

Cheers Dan

cheers for the link!

i had a C reg mk2 with 50k miles in about 1993 so it wasnt very old, and it had been well looked after, but the sills and valances were nowhere near as good as that!

the inner wings were starting to go aswell. which is shocking for a 7yr old car when you think about it...

my mate had a 1977 mk1 at the time which had obviously been very neglected and thrashed, yet the underside was rock solid!

Ok its time to update this seeing as Ive only just remebered I had a thread on here

Jan 11, 2010
Since the last update ive still been using it everyday
Its still wearing the 'pots
I changed the rear view miror with a higher spec one from a frst
Fitted bonnet pins as my bonnet hinges broke
Replaced my clear indicators with original gingers
Bought some RS2000 wheels (which I sold a while ago now)
Got a matt black sunstrip (still to fit)
Also got some ginger side repeaters to replace the clears as I got bored of the clears.

Jan 29, 2010
I threw the blue painted grille in the bin and replaced it with a standard palstic one to break up the blue

Feb 06, 2010
Just a quick pic to show my high spec dash
Big thanks toDanny aka Fiescos dan for going to the trouble of sending it along with the little bits that go with it + the cowling
Plans are the get it flocked once I have a roll cage

I sold the dials shortly after, god knows why

Apr 29. 2010
After the bottom end went in superb style on the way to work one morning I popped it in the garage over the winter

While it was there I bought a few bits from Robptt like his old reverse charge carrier, EFI inlet and intercooler with pipes all which used to be on his featured mk2 fiesta zetec turbo as I was planning on building a zetec turbo after bumping into Ian Howell in WHSmiths

At the moment its resting out side my house waiting for some love, im trying to get rid of all my spare bits as at the minute theyre all in the car
And yes I have sold my front bumper

As soon as its empty I'll be spending some time checking what needs replacing metal wise.

Sept 05, 2011
Well the other day I gave the inside a sort out ready for when its gets moved to my mates garage temporaily
While I was the I fitted my carbon style steering wheel badge...

...and my 8 ball gearknob, yes that how bored I was
.
Oh and before I forget, I also fitted a bucket seat so I can move it about still

Nov 23, 2011
As I lost my previous job I had to move back home and so I had nowhere to store my car in such short notice so my mate Jonny aka mjonathan24 said he let me keep it at his house
And here it sat waiting to be picked up( full of my junk and spares) and moved to its temporary home

Once I got it there and met jonny we deceided to disconnect the old knackered crappy 1.0 lump, but before we did jonny gave it a little go on his drive
http://s260.photobucket.com/albums/i...t=5288512d.mp4
Anyway since all that ive got another full time job so I can once again crack on with this.
Recently I bought Ady's seats from his very mint mk2 xr2 which I hope to pick up very soon

Also bought 4 brand new bumper clips as they were a bargain so why not

And a front and rear TRS tow straps to keep me happy for now

I will be getting some TRS 4 or six point harnesses and maybe a pair of twin headlights if my tax return comes in time
But thats it for now and as usual questions & comments are welcome

Dec 01, 2011
Ok time for a little update
On the sunday just gone I picked up the seats I bought off Ady which are yet to be fitted as Im just waiting on my seat bolts to arrive but once fitted i'll get some piccys
Thanks to my mate Jonny aka mjonathan24 for driving me there and helping to collect them
Ive snapped up an intercooler that XRT_si was selling which looks to be a fair size

im going for a similar look with it that Chris had with his old orange turbod xr2 I know its gonna look sweet

Ive got my eyes on some wheels which ive decided to buy sometime this month but I dont want to spill the beans just yet till I have them.
Im also looking at getting a s2 gearbox this month aswell
Im wanting to get this car running before April next year in time for central day at Santa pod so hopefully ive not cursed myself by saying that

Jan 08, 2012
Ok time for an update
I got my xr2 dials a little bit ago which is all I need to get my xr2 dash fitted.

As some of you know im buying the ATS Classics that Olie was selling.
Im picking them up next sunday and I really cant wait, I think once ive worked my refurb magic on them i will have them looking brand new and then all need to do is slap some 175/50 yokos on them.
A pic of how they look at the minute...

...and another of how they can look minted up.

Ive also managed to find a freshly rebuilt & complete 1.6 rs turbo engine which im picking up later this month and hope to have it fitted shortly after.

Next saturday me and Jonny(mjonathan24) are having a sesh on my mk2 to get it sorted and all the rubbish cleaned out as ive dumped all my parts and spares inside it.
I also want to fit the seats that I bought of Ady, well at least for now till I get the floor sorted out.
But until next weekend I have these pics to look at that Jonny sent me after he gave it a quick wash, I really cant wait to see it again

Thats it till next weekend, any comments & questions welcome
