LS coils are very lazy, they have a 5ms dwell (charge time) with higher rpm it couldn't provide the spark needed as it didn't charge up enough, it kept spluttering as you can hear in the video. went back to the original dual post coil and CDI 2ms dwell it was fine. if he ever decides to run a cold fuel like E85 or methanol it will be worse. since the change has run 8.0@174 best

i don't remember which ones. we had them recommended to us by a few people who ran them, but they weren't pumping in the same boost 30+psi. our car just didn't seem to like it

Nice piece of kit!

In regard to LSx coils - what do you mean is high rpm?

In these thests, 2ms seems to be a decent dwell time for LSx coil

"Happy" to report that the cam sensor issue is fixed with the change to a hall sensor!

Not to happy to report we had some cam gear fixing failure resulting in 2 inlet valves giving up....

ATM just focusing on the pure luck of not damaging any other valves, and that a pair of new ones is on a plane to norway about ...now, togethger with all new cam gears, tensioners and chains....dont want to risk this happening again...

Damn i´m tired now!! :/

when u add a cold fuel like E85 or methanol, the spark provided won't be enough. we noticed with E85 the power was rolling over and spark starting to break down. soon as we put the M &W CDI setup back in it immediately picked up.

Hmmm, i suspect it is your warm Aussie weather that messes up....
We use these coils in norway with 4cyl turbo cossie's , 5 cyl audi's and 6cyl bmw's , some of them doing over 1000bhp on e85 and they work just fine...?!

must be an Aussie thing, most people tend to stay away from them. i know a few cars running them, but i also know alot of people that have had problems with them. what fuel are you going to be running?

Interesting. In other tests Ive seen them use up to 5ms and suggest that is what is required of an LS coil.

The "cam gear issue" that Joel mentioned above was an unfortunate mix of Koenigsegg cam covers and shiny Ford cover bolts... the latter which turned out to be 5mm longer and that made them bottom out in the cam bridges where they made a dent in the cam bearings.. pinching the cam, hence the reason for Joel's starting issues, the engine hardly turned over and the added friction slowly twisted the cam gear out of synch and it hit two valves. And it ripped the better part of the cam bearings out of the left head and bent the intake cam, while at the same time making two HUGE scratches in the middle two intake cambearings, both on the cam and in the head..

Typical bad luck, they bottomed out at the same point that the cam covers hit the head, so the additional torque to twist the coverbolts seemed to come from the cover tightening on the gasket surface.. not so, we learned.

In other words, had they been 2mm shorter it would be no issue, had they been 2 mm longer we would have noticed the cover not hitting the head.

At 17.37 today , 4.7 liters of twin turbocharged V8 came to life, with a roar giving the chills to everybody present!! All it's 32valves was working perfectly and the comp turbos was able to bed in as well. Everything is all good with it's creators, whom are having a little rest right now... :P

Search for "Koenigsegg granada start-up" on youtube in about 50 minutes to hear and see the start up
