Slight changes underway.. now the 2000+ bhp turbos are there, piping is sorted, Joel and Ingar have hooked up a gazillion fittings, connectors, custom bits..... and the engine bay now looks like porn. Besides, it has been been shown to the world at the Elmia Car Show in Sweden. Next issue of the Swedish car mag Bilsport will have a HUGE report on it..

Stick with it lad and don't get downhearted, the best projects always throw up late challenges but that's just to remind you what a special project this has been.
You spent a lot of time and effort on this car, take your time and get the final 1% right
By the way have you considered an elec/fuel/ fire safety systems. I.e. Plumbed in extinguisher system , a lot of one of parts that can't be replaced easily

If the ignition system is up to it , i think we will be able to see somwhere around 2000hp yes, the phycical limitiations of the enginestructure is at around 2300hp , so at 2k hp we still have some margin left
But as always in this game....anything can happen, even disasters!! :P

Mad engine scientist
I "only" did the heads, intake, IC piping and connectors, part of the IC, the custom "slider" Wiggins fitting, the cam timing and some other custom/tricky bits and pieces.. nowhere near what the manhours you and Ingar have in it.. You know what issue of Bilsport it will be in?

I'we decided to replace it with a hall sensor giving a
Much stronger signal, less prone to interference.

But I will replace the sensor with one that produces as stronger signal and so(I hope) shielding problems should be solved

Mad engine scientist
You could almost use ignition hightension lead size wires and 230V for the signal and still have problems.. the ONLY way to fix it properly is use RF-shielded wire..

Sorry mate, not entirely shure what u mean by that, but there definately is a shielding problem with the cam wire, and the sensor is just 0-3v , so it's a weak signal that easily corrupts, therefore
I'we decided to replace it with a hall sensor giving a

Joel - Which ECU are you using? There should be a dedicated ground point for the sensor shield.
I personally use the Raychem 44 stuff on the link below on any inductive sensor I work with, be it a wheelspeed sensor, cam sensor, crank sensor etc.
http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/Screened_Cables.html
You terminate the two wires into the sensor as normal, they are pre twisted inside the braid. At the ECU end, the two wires terminate as normal and then the braid is connected to the ECU ground point.
Also, is there a potentiometer inside the ECU that you can use to alter the channel sensitivity to 'turn down' the noise?

Sounds like a bit of cross talk going on there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossta...electronics%29 .

I use cheap wire I stole from work lol
As long as mag trigger wires are twisted pair and screened, and routed well away from any potential sources of noise ( ie HT leads ) then they should be fine.
But using a Hall sensor like Joel says he has done, can be a better option anyway regardless of wiring.

will i use a screen twisted pair with foil shielding , its made buy belden and we use shit loads of it on our control panels for mitsubishi plc etc so i have all the off cuts so if want any send me your address and i will send some to you . its one of the best available because of the specs of the panels we build and interferance is a massive problem.

looking gr8 mate. hope u have more luck then what we had with LS coils, we had nothing but problems with them on our 2JZ, the factory Ford coils are much better.
