well 95% of people from norway know of this car and know its power, plus it doesnt look like one anymore, i doubt you would even notice the screamers out of the bonnet anyway as it flys past you

New hood in the works from what I hear. 1-piece carbon. Will be painted, of course... on the exterior.

I AM still alive, please accept my "apologies" for not updating lately.

It all come down to two things, i have been refurbishing a flat , and simply havent done anything to the car!
It´s really annoying, all was good and the flat was on time to be finished end of january , but then really cold weather hit the water pipes and mayhem was loose... so my time budget was kinda fucked...

Was supposed to be in the dyno by last week, but obviously did not make it.

But, a small update... been cracking at it the last couple of days and we are just about there...

So, another boring statusupdate...

We have made a new carbonfibre bonnet wich is soon to be painted as the old one, albeit, carbon finish on the underside... save about 10kg with this mod

Name: IMAG_0155-1.jpg
Views: 193
Size: 41.0 KB

The new billet comp turbos are in place, and both exhausts are modded til fit , as are the wastegate exits, the exit´s are now plumbed into the exhaust on both sides.
New pressure pipes are fitted and ALL pressure and water pipes are now fitted with wiggins clamps insted, it was a far more serviceable solution - especially the water pipes, getting the fittings on and off the heads, on each side of the throttle body was a real pain in the ..... each time so i changed the design.

Name: IMAG_0159.jpg
Views: 199
Size: 96.7 KB

Also, a new mod to the rear diff housing. The rear lid of them is a known weakness, even tough we had a steel bracing fitted to it, i was not happy with the solution.
So a complete new CNC macghined lid was made and also has provision for pre tension of the main bearings for the diff itself.

I also bought a unimog, the mother and father of all 4x4´s....

Some pictures from when i picked it up, somwhere far far far away in a lost fjord somwhere in the nortwest of norway... :P

you have too much money lol

I think my single skin Kevlar bonnet weighs about 12kg, and it doesnt have big holes in it :P

Although with the amount it cost me, I abandoned the idea of trying to lighten things, it costs too much !!

Good to hear it's progressing.
The front end is great, you cant even see the intercooler. I did wonder how well it would be hidden given it's size

haha, naah..i don't think that is the case...

Some weight is saved but most important , it will never rust!

It worked out quite well in the end yes, but not much space left in any direction!

A little lack of updated lately i know, but the last week actually has been quite busy at the workshop.
The new carbon bonnet has been a major time consumer to get the finnish we require on the side wich is to be painted, far to much work but is now ready for filler at the paintshop, wich is good!

I did a mod to the front suspension this week, and with this mod the suspension i would say is way up there with the best of the best....i REALLY look forward to test how it feels.

Upper suspension arms replaced with adjustable ones, that rest in uniballs.

This is how it turned out, looks good ehh??

Also , the lower caster bars are now replaced with also a uniball kind of looking part..
Now there is zero flex anywhere in the front system.
Here they are ready for fitting, trhe little part in the upper part of the picture is the rest of the old bushed ones

I'm REALLY look forward to testing the whole package now...for REAL!!

Other than that, it seems we finally can get to the dyno, next week

Magnor is from Norway with the black car.

Are you still retaining the standard front crossmember, it really is very heavy. And shouldnt be that difficult to replace.

It is one thing I will get rid of. Just not sure whether to try and retain the original suspension layout with upper wishbone and lower arm etc. Or just go for a complete custom setup.
But the crossmember itself is by far the heaviest part

You're front suspension looks superb though. I did think you were making 2 sets though lol

Engine has revved it's first few rpm's and we had it to Oslo Motorshow at the norwegian trade fairs this week-end

The response has been , hmm...how can I put it, simply outstanding, BIG thanks to all of those genuinely nice and interested people who came and took a look at the car, we where glad to see all of you

And then I'd like to say that, remember this is only a hobby, and from our point of view it it is all about having fun, meet other people that share the passion for cars, make new friends, be crative and last but certainly not lest - DARE to go your own ways!!

We had a great time at the fair and it is with a humble attidude we take take into account all the positive feedback we get for the work we've done!

The paradox with this car , is that we have done just about everything we can to HIDE all the tousands of hours og thinking, engeneering and construction we've put down into making this car what it is today!

And now we enter a new phase of the project, wich will, because of the nature of the build, incorporate just as much analytical work to get it all fine tuned to work out as goos as possible.

I couldn't have said it better than the Swedish car magszine "bilsport" put it yesterday :

‎"This is possibly the greatest protest against conventional car building we've ever seen, and we love it, please come to the ELMIA show with the car next year"

Big thanks to Ford Club Norway for having us at your stand

Here are some of my pictures from the week end :

Cheers

Now, it is soon time for Armin only , in holland, for some celebrations

And let's finally be a little bold for once.... - HELP US GET THE CAR ON TOP GEAR NEXT YEAR, head to head with some supercar!!!!

I bet you are, the unimog is an awesome machine, and yes you are right , the 5seat crewcab is very rare, i was lucky to get hold of this one - after 2 years of searching for one!

Hehehe, so you fancy the d24 volvo's? Gutted you dont have the w123 in uk, it is like the volvo a solid car usually having no problems giving 1.000.000km on the clock

Slight changes underway.. now the 2000+ bhp turbos are there, piping is sorted, Joel and Ingar have hooked up a gazillion fittings, connectors, custom bits..... and the engine bay now looks like porn. Besides, it has been been shown to the world at the Elmia Car Show in Sweden. Next issue of the Swedish car mag Bilsport will have a HUGE report on it..

Sorry guys, but i REALLY would have wanted to just post a vid and some dynopapers here now...but I can´t!

The simple truth is that we have been having some serious problems getting, in particular, the mechanical fuel pump(doing 75prms at cranking giving 0bar pressure driving 1680cc injectors..) the LSX coils , and the engine management to work well together.
Hmm, actually to work together at all.

But long BORING story made short :
The LSX coils and plug wires, turned into an antenna , leaking into the cam sync sensor , and secretly corrupting the cam signal - wich in turn corrupts the firing order and makes starting even harder(take the fuel pressure into consideration..)
We only just found this after looking at every deatail with a scope , in frustration of not finding the fault.

So by the end of this week end we´ll have modified the engine loom to accept a 12v hall sensor reporting for the cam instead of the 3v inductive sensor, and at the same time , leave the inductive sensor at the crank stay.

But a hell of alot of details have been taken care of since last update...its really shocking how much time it actually takes to finish everything completely...

now some photos...
