If you drop by today, I can spend tomorrow on it and you probably pick it up tomorrow evening.. unless there's a need for a big revamp of it, which i doubt. Guess it's mostly nitpicking, but it's better to be sure...

Heeey Dave! long time no hear - all good?

Yess, the car is finally comming together, we've had fair amount of challenges to work trough, and as soon as we get it up running i guess we'll have a few more

But thanks we are pretty pleased as well beeing able to hide most of what the car really is... under a "std ford look design"...

We had too take 5 mins to consider this one bfore we made them...

Ultimately we opted for steel, even tough T6 alu was close to beeing the material of choice untill we finally decided for steel.

How come u ask?

Over 3 pages with hit's on different comments to this old ford!

In all humbleness(can you say that in english??) , this is a combination of scary and fun :P

Because I would eventually like to make some hubs for mine which would incorporate an extended knuckle for the TCA (like on the 3dr Cossies) to remove some of the inherent bump steer of the poorly positioned OE items .

Ahh.. i see , yes i recon there is room for improvement in that department ..

I'd go for steel if you have them made, it's safer...

Just imagine for instance, alle the heat the hubs would accumulate from the brake discs, then you might end up in expansion leading to bearing failure and so on...
Surely they can be made up in a combo-solution of both steel and alu, but for me there was not time to experiment with that now..

If I end up doing them, they will be similar to the Grp A ones, but still use the standard upright mounting method. This then utilises the bigger / stronger transit bearings. I agree that steel is also the safest method, but wanted to get rid of some unsprung weight at the same time if this would have been possible.

I see.

But, it is possible to make them lighter even tough steel is used I recon.
You could leave less material and use a better steel quality than std , if you make new ones, and at the same time make it comply with some new and bigger bearings.

Currently massacring your intake with an angle grinder and assorted tools probably most often found in a torture chamber (my workshop) ... whatever genius it was who made the entrance to the runner considerably smaller than the combined cross-sectional areas of the ports should be publicly flogged. Instant several-hundred-hp down the drain. That's a no-no I just can't allow to happen...

PMSL at this comment mate, I am guessing that there is quite some work going into the intake then is there?
Any chance of a few pics of progress to see how it's all going at all please?

Yes, there's a bit more to do than expected.. Joel or Ingar removed the first foot - quite literally - of unneccessary (we don't want it to tune at the right intake pulse for pulling down a brick shithouse at tickover anyway) intake runner, now I am working on removing the last 2.5" of it and replacing them with decent sized tubing - both diameter, shape and lenght - with a custom solution at the end of it to make a proper bellmouth. Well, not really a bellmouth, I don't want a weakened return pulse so a fairly narrow radius. As for pics, I have a policy of not showing anything detailed in public unless the owner of the bits give his consent.. so ask Joel.

Awesome build!

When my m8, who's building a turbo'd V4 MkI Granda/Consul, sees those suspensionarms he'll go crazy and probably start designing as well.

No worries mate, sounds like you are quite a way through the development anyway.

Joel are we allowed to see any pictures of what is being done to the inlet at all yet mate or are you keeping things close to your chest?

Time for a little update...

Had a (new) setback, wich isn't very hard to fix, just extreeeeeamly boring and none motivating stuff to do...

It seems the size of the Tremec3650 and the TKO housing is not as similar as the spec's say they are.. so with the real trans fitted , we did not get the angle of either the engine or the trans right...
Yep, up with the angle grinder again..... :S

This was not the dream stuff to fettle with now as the car is coming together...

The new "lid" getting there....

On the other side you can see the profile of the new centre console, wich will be made out of alu and carbon

Mixed updates.. :

The Dash is getting quite digital, the main 8" instrumet in centre talk to the engine management and other stff trough can-bus, and a 12.2" lcd to the right wich is connected to the cars on board computer, whom will have quite a few tasks on board... you'll see those later , the sound system will of course also be based around the computer as well.

I would imagine it was a bit frustrating mate but look on the bright side of things, the car can't be too far off its first outing now can it.

Thanks guys

Well, it still is abit to go, unfortunately, but i don't want to rush it either just to get it done... I want it to be quality also in the last part of the build, but yeah, it shure is coming along nicely now, and is more or less a complete car again at least
