Happy new year!
I HAD to do some work on my house, but all that is finished this week, and then 100% back to the car again.
Basicly what is left there is terminating wires, plumbing of boost, water and fuel, and fitting of trim parts, and dyno the engine..
So this year i cannot see any reason for not getting the car out on the tracks

Ive a 16" puller on mine, although I just sourced it via ebay ages ago. I think the seller was actually in Germany.

Well I have to admit that work on the car has been delayed a little more as the final details on my house took a little longer than I would wish, and that is due to other ppl than me....
But, i'we had little warm up and done a little sorting out of what to commence with when i get 100% back to the car - hopefully next week.
Plumbing of fuel/water/boost is first up, then i start terminating all the wires that is pulled all around in the car , and then it is time to crank her for the first time in a loong time!
Definately looking forward to that.
A few pictures og more or less relevance... :P
The silicone damper on the crank has to be made ready for the belt drive fuel pump, so we made up a little piece like this, and welded the pulley to it :
Quite trikcy to weld nicely inside this tiny window, but it got "approved" :P
This is the actual fuel pump, without the pulley, the pressure regulator, and I finally got together all the fittings i was missing.
This is the Fuel filter, a nice feature with this one is that it can be closed for inspection of the filter wtihout draining the whole tank.
Som other bits lying around , shortly to be fitted...
Soon coming up some more intresting pictures as work gets done, we still have a few cool new ideas coming up so watch this space

Yes, i thought so to, there is several occations when it would be nice to be able shut fuel delivery in an easy and serviceable way!
Really looking forward to spending long evenings,week-ends and basicly all other spare time @ the workshop again.. lol :P

We have twin AN8´s from the fuel cell into a Y split with AN10 exit. Then it is AN10 trough filter, pump and to the fuel pressure regulator feed. Then two AN8 lines from the regulator, one for each fuel rail.
Actually there is AN10 pipes on the return line to the fuel cell as well, just to keep flow restrictrons for the pump at an absolute minimum, AN8 in the return would have been adequate as well, but a little excageration never hurt in theese kind of builds..
According to Aeromotive, who made the fuel pump, it can support 3600hp on petrol, and 1800 on pure methanol.
As we will be runnig E85(85%ethanol+15%petrol) we will have more than enough margin for hitting our engine performance window of between 17-2000hp
Not painted, we figured we wanted to do all mechanical work due to a somewhat restriced space in the workshop, and avoid the possibillity for damage during assembly...

I just dont think the pictures of the work i'we doene lately looks good! but anyway, it is the fuel system that is beeing completed theese days...
Mechanical fuel pump in place with a decent bracket made up for it
Fuel pressure sregulator in place at the left. 2 AN8 hooses from this and out to each of the fuel rails,AN10 inn an AN10 out, you can also se the pulley on the crank damper for driving the fuel pump.
close up of regulatoren
Below, an10 both to and back to fuel cell
little more tricky to to cam timing on theese than on the YB!!
A few "historical" pictures i accidently found the other day...
Now this a long time ago....
drag racing gardermoen summer 2001
Ready for a few laps at rudskogen ,gatebil 1998
gatebil @ rudskogen, MANY MANY years ago... :P
The black hooses and fittings simply dont look good in photos... :P
This time around i do fittings and reinforced hooses for everything, oil, water, pressure sensors, wastegetes and so on... i want stuff to stay put when in place!!
Fuel out of 2 an8 exits in the F.cell, and then over into a Y piece for AN10 onwards to the fuel filter.
Fuel filter with a stopping crane(?) , before the hoose goes on to the pump
Teh pictures of complete engine, with inlet, coils, f.rails and wastegates is something to look forward to, it looks pretty cool

Fantastic Joel !!!! Keep up the good work.
I'd love to have used the Pro-Lite hoses when I did mine, but didnt even know they existed !! The black definately looks cool.

Thanks alot guys! It might sound stupid , but all the positive feedback i get really is nice to have along such a build, especially as this is done completely without any company backing us up, the project is totally dependent on me and Ingar doing all the work - there will be no stickers on this car!
It costs ALOT if time, money, hard work and it goes on the expence on other social activities!! So I really really appreciate all the good words!
A good friend of mine working with large scale pumps , was kind enough do to som math´s concering our fuel pump.
It flows well that´s for shure, and as it is driven straight off the crank it increases flow with engine rews.
So for instance at 5000rpm, when i go off the throttle , the f.press regulator has to bleed off roughly 0.5kw of heat simply due to the whopping fuel flow from the pump.
Redline is at 8500 has a softcut and a hardcut at 9000, here the regulator will have to bleed off something in the region of 1kw heat!!!
Crazy huh?? :P
So obviously I had to fit a fuel cooler as well, found a nice SETRAB cooler and a perfect spot for it in the return line yesterday , and the fuel system is now completely plumbed and even looks very good all over - very happy about that
Fuel flow is atm only limited by the injectors, but with a capability of delivering almost 16 liters to the engine each minute, the 65 litre fuel cell seems a little bit small :P Does anyone know max fuel delivery capability of the Veyron? :P
Next up is water and oil, in even larger hooses...

Stunning work Joel, keep it up
just a quick question though, if the fuel pump is driven from the engine, what provides fuel pressure on startup?
also I presume you know what the pully drive is made from in order to weld it?

Gravity takes care of that, as long as the pump has fuel in the lines it sucks as well.
And at the feed input of the f.press regulator,i have fitted a non return valve, making shure no air will enter the fuel line from that side, AND will keep fuel rails/injectors pressurised at all times, otherwise a warm engine start up would be diffucult as fuels "boils" in the injectors as heat soaks upwards when engine is stopped.
So, no feed for this pump is the clear orders i have recieved, as long as you use hooses with correct size.
Pulley on the pump is t6 alluminum alloy and the pulley on the crank is steel. I assume what you really worry about is belt fatigue..or?

I'd think any load on it would be minimal The belt wont be very tight, and its only a pump. Probably less load than a PAS pump. In fact, definately less load than a PAS pump

But if this weld let´s go, i will be very surprised.
The welding was done with a very powerful and very exotic micro-tig(virtually impossible to do this job with a normal one due to limitied space), standing alongside the tools and equipment used to service the norwegian air force´s F16´s
The F16 materials expert did not have any concerns in regard to this weld, and frankly, then neither do I :P
But Tewllsie, IF if breaks, you´ll be the first to know, and you can have the pleasure of saying : "Told ya"
And i see your point, as this is stuff one should take into consideration!
