Escort stage rally car

Decided against the dash showing center diff pressure, so changed that to percentage. 0 = no pressure, so 2wd, 100 =full lock, full 4wd.
Also, changed the rear strut bodies to widen the rear end, the Grp A lower clamps I cut off and made some new plates to re camber the hubs.
Should have been ready to map but been waiting 4 weeks for some hoses 😭

Not done any updates at all, its a bind trying to get images on here, no matter what browser I use the little yellow image box does nothing.
here goes
Seats and belts now in, these have to be FIA approved and dated, have a shelf life of 5 years, so even if you do not even sit in them, after 5 years they are not eligible for competition
The boy in the image was not even born when I started this build, my son has a love for the car too.
lots of reinforcement required underneath
When night time comes around daylight is important
Only when the seats go in (just about when testing starts) can you then appreciate that the driver display needs to be moved to a better position.
The car has had an engine management change as well as having 3 different dash displays since the build began.
Big thanks to Andy Gallacher for sorting the NEW ecu/dash displays, lesson learned, buy new units not second hand, they will work then.
Try some videos but Photobucket won't even play them

Some random images
Ha 2016 since I last looked at this.
Been out, done a rally, so many changes since. These are from the last couple of years.
Currently been testing the active 4wd system. Of the three differentials the Escorts had, non of mine are from an Escort, it now has no centre diff, and a non Ford front.
So far, traction is mega.

How time flies
I stopped updating these forums a long time ago as it just takes too much time.
Every other year is not so bad though. The above turbo, meh, was ok, just did not produce the boost I wanted. Sorted that out with a Holset. Still restricted, Peaks at 3.4b absolute now. Makes around 580nm on pump fuel.
After running the Skyline box for many years I felt that the car was so much better than its gearbox, with such a short power band (restrictor chokes flow at 5500rpm) I really need a sequential. Same plan, its not a period car, I don't need period bits, I don't want to buy a Ł15k+ gearbox that I cannot get bits for (FFD).
After some research and a plan...
New gearbox project arrived. When is an auto not an auto?
Just got to make it fit
Little bit of CAD (Can't be arsed showing the Ford side)
All good fun. 7 Speed Sequential gearbox. 30-50ms gear changes with factory life.

10K+ Poster!!
Great idea and good conversion, those boxes can take loadsa power. I take it the skyline transfer box is just 1:1 so whatever goes in comes out. They swap cogs so quickly that will be great

How will the ratios work out in this? I guess you're dropping them down using the diffs?
I love this sort of thing. It makes me laugh really, as so many people say that modern cars are too complicated, and here you are putting this gearbox into your car. Just shows that, where there's a will, there's a way. If only more people in rallying were willing to try things.

1st is 4.8:1, 7th is 0.67:1. All inbetween is a closer version of what I have now.
Really I will have a close ratio 5 speed (2-6th) with an easy launch gear in 1st that will shift seamlessly to 2nd. Certainly 6 usable gears for a rally car.
